I went to the Cakewalk at Grand Central yesterday. There were some very pretty cakes, some not so pretty but there was free champagne and we got to vote for our favorite cake. They were even giving away a trip for 2 to the Bahamas (please, please let me win!). The lighting in there was poor and my flash reflected off the marble walls so these aren’t the greatest pictures. But who cares - it’s cake! And now for your Friday viewing pleasure…

Right: The baker pictured here made the cake with a broken arm. It took her 15 days!
This cake is by Ellen Baumwoll of Bijoux Doux Cakes in Brooklyn. She made my groom’s cake and did a wonderful job. I really liked this cake because she has “I do” in different fonts around each layer.

I took a picture of every single cake. All the flowers are made of fondant, gum paste, etc. No fresh flowers were used!
I admit I love watching TV wedding specials and I got sucked into Rob and Amber Get Married last night. They met and got engaged on Survivor All-Stars (she was the winner, he was the runner-up), competed on the Amazing Race together, and got married in a fantasy wedding designed by Colin Cowie at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
She seems like such a sweet girl and they look adorable together! I’m such a sucker for love stories.

Ok so we finally set a date (finally)!!) April 29th of 2006. We also have a reception hall picked out. But guess what? No proposal & no ring! Haha… I know, i know, …i know what you’re going to say but we’ve been together for 5 years & i think we only broke up twice. Once 2 years ago cause he had a hissy fit about something and scare the bejesus outta me and once…hmm, let me think now, oh yeah, last week. But we’ve come a long way and i know he loves me more than anything and i him.
I wanted april 30th because that would be our 6 year anniversary but that’s a sunday and i want our friens to party the night away and not worry about work the next day. So that’s why it’s the 29th.
I know he’s taking care of the ring ladies so don’t worry. But that proposal better be rivers-pouring-out-of-my-eyes damn good if you know what i’m sayin.
yesterday my little sister and i went to the vera wang sample sale. The line was friggin long. We got in line around 10:30am and finally got to go in around 12:45pm. They were letting in 15 girls at a time. There was a girl in line ahead of me with her fiance and she had on a huge emerald cut engagement ring. It was beautiful! Even the security guy saw it and shooke her fiance’s hand. It looked like 3.5 to 4 carats and had these little tiny baguettes around it. My hands are small so it would look stupid on me but it was so pretty to look at. I mean she was like 12 people ahead of me and it just stood out!
So finally got in. I almost saw one cat fight. I was standing next to this black lady and we were looking through the same rack and there was a white lady looking at a rack behind us. So i guess when the black lady walked by her she bumped into her and said “sorry”. The white lady goes…
W: escuse me!
B: i said sorry!
W: saying sorry is not the same thing as saying excuse me.
B: what?!
W: saying sorry is not the same thing as saying excuse me.
B: listen. I said sorry. Okay? So that’s that.
W: i knwo but saying sorry is not the same thing as saying excuse me.
(i’m just standing there thinking “hit her! Hit her!”)
b: you now, if we were outside i would kick yo ass, so you lucky we inside.
…and then she walks away. Holy shit whitey! The aisles are tight, she said sorry so just leave it at that. Too much estrogen! Hot damn!
We walked out bare handed. A lot of the dresses we’re pretty but most of them were damaged and i saw way too much cellulite in the dressing room to last me a lifetime. And it’s not just cellulite, it’s cellulite in thongs. Need i say more?!
