I saw some more flower ideas that I thought would go with the orange/peach theme and thought I would post so I have them for easy reference (this is like my virtual scrap book for the wedding!).
I love these and think it would work for both me, the BMs and/or something similar as table arrangments!

I like the look of Orange and Hot Pink, but I don’t think it’s what I want for my wedding.

MK just sent flowers to my office (I sorta started a new job last week). The card says:
“Something to Brighten Your New Office. I Love you. MK”
How sweet is he???? Course, I’m going to have to take them home since it’s Friday, so they’ll be brightening up my dining room instead.

What do y’all think of this color combo? Please ignore the types of flowers for now. I just want to make sure there are color combos (both for BM dresses and flowers) that go well with the Monique Lhullier dress before ordering it!
Orange/peach isn’t what I had originally envisioned for a June wedding, but I think it will work nicely. The idea would be that BM’s get off-white flowers and I get either peachy or orange flowers.
Tomorrow, I might post purple color combos. I find it sooo helpful to see things side-by-side!

Or maybe I can have bright orange flowers and the BM’s would have a white version of the same?

One of my BM’s just reminded me that she may be preggers during my wedding. These are the maternity styles that Jim Hjelm has in chiffon fabric to match the “regular” BM dresses. The style would be the preggers BM’s choice (somehow, I don’t think the second strappy dress would work after 7 months or so
).

I like Mango, Papaya, and Tangerine. It’s hard to tell on the computer because colors don’t always look the same on the screen as they do in person (ha! that sounds like an official warning).
Kleinfeld’s Bridesmaids’ Loft has the full line of Jim Hjelm dresses and swatches of all of the fabrics so ladies, you will be able to see how it fits in your size! I think chiffon is a sexy, but forgiving (!) fabric.

The ring: A ?40,000 marquise-cut solitaire diamond from Van Cleef & Arpels, bought from a jeweller?s in Manchester.
The graft: Back in 1999, Becks? basic salary at Manchester United was ?1.35 million ? but that was nothing compared to his lucrative sponsorship deals. When you totted it all up, it would have taken him just 24 hours to earn the money to pay for this ring.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez
The ring: A ?700,000, six-carat pink solitaire diamond ring from Harry Winston.
The graft: The year he got engaged to J.Lo, Ben was already earning over ?5m per movie. To earn the money to pay for this famous ring, he needed to be on screen in road-rage drama Changing Lanes for just 14 minutes.
Jude Law and Sienna Miller
The ring: A ?20,000 gold ring with nine diamonds set in platinum.
The graft: Jude currently makes between ?4 and ?5 million per film ? so we calculate his ring for Sienna cost him a mere 30 seconds of Cold Mountain screen time.
Donald Trump and Melania Krauss
The ring: A 12-carat diamond ring from New York jewellers Graff worth ?1.5m ? which Donald got at the knockdown price of ?700,000.
The graft: This ring came in at exactly one tenth of Donald?s annual earnings - or just over one month?s worth . But when he was accused of stinginess, the billionaire retorted: ?Only a fool would say, ?No thank you, I want to pay a million dollars more for a diamond?.?
Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman
The ring: A ?30,000 20-carat diamond ring.
The graft: As the co-founder of Christina’s management company, Jordan is thought to earn around ?100,000. So while Ms Aguilera continues to be coy about her engagement, her fiancee has spent nearly four months? wages on a ring for her.
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
The ring: A five-carat diamond ring which cost ?25,000.
The graft: As a dancer and model, Kevin is thought to earn around ?35,000 a year. But it?s been reported that Britney’s put him on her payroll ? and even that she paid for this ring herself! If Kevin was indeed a gent, though, this ring amounted to nearly nine months of his salary.

I sent my wedding dress to be cleaned and preserved at J. Scheer after the wedding and just got it back this week. I needed to get it cleaned, but getting it preserved was only $100 more so I figured why not. It took three months for me to get the dress back.
I initially planned on selling my dress after the wedding to justify how much I’d paid for it. But I think the most I could expect for my dress is around $1000 and I love my dress!!! Parting with it seems bittersweet and $1000 hardly seems worth selling it for. If anyone I know - my daughter, niece, cousin, friend… wears it just once it’ll have been worth saving. The only problem is…. the box it’s stored in is ginormous and I live in a small Manhattan apartment.
This is the box they delivered it in. That’s a box of Pocky in the middle so you can tell how big the box is.
Let’s open it up…
They even pack gloves! You’re not supposed to touch the dress with bare hands because the oils on them can stain the dress.
Before I started trying dresses on I never thought that I’d care this much about a wedding dress. Now after all those fittings and getting married in the dress, I don’t want to part with it. Maybe I’ll keep it at my parent’s place.
Some BM dresses I like (all from Jim Hjelm).

I don’t want strapless dresses for the BM’s. I also like these BM dresses (minus the flower on the left), but not with the Monique Lhiullier dress.

Maybe with this Angel Sanchez dress??? I need to make an appointment at Saks - they carry both Monique Lhiullier and Angel Sanchez.

This is the timeline of when I booked each wedding vendor. It’s something I’m doing for my website, but I thought that it might be helpful to some brides out there. Keep in mind that we had 6 months to plan the wedding and had an off season wedding so it was a lot easier to get the vendors we wanted. We got engaged on May 7, 2004 but didn’t start planning the wedding until after I moved to New York on August 22, 2004. Our wedding was on March 5, 2005.
This is just the big stuff. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask!
Late August - booked venue.
9/15/04 - bought wedding dress (dress arrived on 12/21/04 and I had 3 subsequent fittings)
10/19/04 - mailed save-the-dates
10/20/04 - ordered bridesmaids dresses (dresses arrived on 2/1/05)
11/15/04 - booked photographer
11/17/04 - ordered invitations (1/7/05 - mailed invitations)
12/6/04 - booked florist
1/3/04 - ordered favors
1/11/05 - hired day of wedding coordinator
1/18/05 - booked band, dj, and ceremony musicians (all thru same company)
1/22/05 - booked officiant
1/24/05 - ordered programs and menus
2/7/05 - booked groomsmen’s suit rentals
2/7/05 - bought Mr. Bee’s suit
2/15/05 - bought wedding bands
2/15/05 - got marriage license
2/16/05 - ordered guestbook scroll, seating chart, place cards, and table cards
3/1/05 - purchased liquor
3/5/05 - wedding day!
I found the timelines in magazines and elsewhere were overly generous. No one really sticks to them. By having an off season wedding though, we saved some $$$ and we didn’t have to compete for vendors. It was definitely worth it. ![]()
i just read this in the paper a few days ago but the longest marriage ever was recorded in the guiness book of world records on june 1st of this month. the husband, 105 years old, his wife, 100. the husband passed away a few days ago. How cute are they?
WORLD’S LONGEST MARRIAGE OVER
Percy Arrowsmith, who with his wife set the record two weeks ago for the world’s longest marriage, died Wednesday, his wife of 80 years by his side. He was 105.
Arrowsmith died at his home in Hereford, northwest of London, his bishop said.
Arrowsmith and his 100-year-old wife, Florence, celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary and a place in the Guinness Book of World Records on June 1.
“Percy and Flo were very happy when I saw them on their anniversary,” said the Rev. Anthony Priddis, bishop of Hereford. “They were still very much in love with each other.”
Earlier this month, Guinness World Records recognized the pair as holding records for the longest marriage for a living couple and the oldest aggregate age of a married couple.
The Arrowsmiths, who have three children, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, claimed the key to their long marriage was not to go to sleep on an argument.
“We will all be praying for Flo and the family in their grief,” Priddis said.
I called Pamela Cravens today who is the “house florist” for Battery Gardens. I don’t *have* to use her, but I like the work that’s on her website and she’s not supposed to be crazy expensive.
Since my wedding is next June, I thought this would be a good time to start thinking about the flowers. Whatever is in season now should be in season for the wedding… right? Apparently, it doesn’t always work that way. Pamela said that this year has been an awful one for flowers because of the heavy rains in the spring!! So I guess you can’t predict it.
I do need to pick out colors for flowers and the bridesmaid dresses. I originally wanted very light celedon green and lavender, but I just don’t think those colors will go with the dress I’ve fallen in love with! I know I said I wouldn’t post it, but I feel like I have so I can get honest opinions. MK… honey… are you peeking?
Stop scrolling right now ….
Don’t go any further …
Halt! Abort!
Not for MK’s eyes …
Is it safe yet?
Okay… I still don’t trust you, so the pic of the dress is alllll the way on the bottom of this post! Please, please, please don’t look!
I think orange would work best with the dress, but can you do orange flowers in June? And what color would I make the BM dresses? Black and give the BM’s pale peach flowers — similar to mine, but a lighter shade?
Ok, for anyone who knows me, stop laughing right now! Seriously. I mean it. I will not have an orange and black wedding unless I have no choice. Hehehe ![]()

Maybe shades of purple?

I would love to have blue/lavender/green hydrangea or wildflowers, but it just won’t go with the dress!

Maybe off-white and green????

Okay, thank you for your patience. Here it is!!!!
I thought this bm dress and color (but full-length) would go well with “my” dress. It picks up the sash motif and the halter neckline looks a bit like the neck line of “my” dress.

I saw the most amazing video clip the other day on theknot. The videographers are from Philadelphia - Tangerine Media Group. The clip is just a “wedding recap” - basically the wedding in 2 1/2 minutes and is from a bride whose knot screenname is DRZBride.
I don’t feel right posting a direct link to the clip, since well, it’s her wedding, but there is a link on her knot profile. I spoke with them today and they will send me a sample DVD and their price list. It might be a pain to hire videographers from Phili, but if I totally love their work, I’d do it.
I think I found some bridesmaids dresses I like and that will go well with the wedding dress I love and tried on at Kleinfelds. I know… I know… I should post a picture of the dress, but I sort of don’t want everyone to see it. Especially since MK knows about this site and I DEFINiTELY don’t want him getting an advance peek!!!
Anyway, the bridesmaids dresses are from a store in Brooklyn called Kimera Design. I like the sash of the purple dress but the full length with the fish tail. I love the purple color or maybe I would go with an orange/tangerine??? What do you think??
