My mom has started planning my bridal shower. I know, I know… mothers aren’t technically supposed to plan the showers, but in New York, Russian moms are always who host (and pay for!) the showers. I think in part because showers can be very expensive in New York. Few bridesmaids have apartments big enough to host parties, so showers are often held in restaurants. Even a relatively inexpensive restaurant will cost $25-$40 per person. 20 guests… so it adds up.
Through a recommendation on theknot, I directed my mother to Opia Restaurant on Lexington Avenue and East 57th Street. They have several rooms that can be used for private parties and we can add couches and lounge chairs to the room so guests don’t have to sit at the table the whole time. Plus, the prices are totally reasonable!

She’s also been looking for invitations. These are adorable invites are from Sarah LeClere. They can be ordered blank or pre-printed from the following websites, but are a bit pricey: polkadotdesign.com, finestationery.com, paperstyle.com.
