Say Cheese!

February 27th, 2006 @ 10:56 am by Mrs. Firefly

I’ve been thinking of renting a photobooth for the wedding. Most companies rent the “model 12″ digital photobooth that provides 6 photos ( 2 strips of 3) in around 10 seconds, although the old-fashioned photobooths are also available.

The companies also provide a scrapbooking counsultant to help guests create a one of a kind guestbook for you (you don’t want the guests taking all of the pictures home!).

Surprisingly, there are tons of companies out there. A few companies I’ve found are: NYC Photobooth, Hamptons Photobooths, Photobooths Interactive, and Photobooth Scrapbooks. A lot of companies offer nationwide service. Check knottie CaliCayman for pictures of a photobooth in action.

The prices seem to run at around $1500 - $2000 for 4 hours - too much to add on top of my budget. I was thinking of getting a photobooth instead of doing guest favors; still more expensive, but at least I’ll cut something out. If you are a guest at a wedding, what would you prefer — chocolate/cookies or photostrips to take home?

i would prefer the photostrips! its more personalized and something i would defintely keep in a special photo album or scrapbook. it is such a fun idea. something interactive to do. i wouldn’t want the guests to take all the pics home either though…how does this work? a big sign that says do not take, stick it here?

The company would send someone to help run the photobooth and help-out with the guest book. Maybe he would ask guests to leave *some* of the strips by the guest book (it includes unlimited pictures). Or I can leave a sign that says : “Take as many pictures as you like, but please be sure to leave us some memories as well …” … so something like that.

I’m in the Minneapolis area, and I found a company called The Traveling Photobooth (http://www.thetravelingphotobooth.com/). It’s a digital booth, color or B&W, and you get TWO copies of each strip: one for you and one for your guest! You can also go online later and look at all the pictures (and bust anyone who took both copies).

We actually signed a contract and paid a $600 deposit for Hamptons PhotoBooth but we can’t get in contact with them and our wedding is this Saturday. Has anyone heard from them?
