Hello! I just got engaged this past Saturday and I’m so excited…. and scared. I have no idea where to begin. What would you suggest the first couple of things a bride-to-be should do?!

Dear Annie,

The first thing for you and your fiance to decide is whether you’re going to plan the wedding by yourself. If you want to work with a planner, I think it will be best to interview planners before running to pick the dress or venue.

If you’re planning to do it without help, you need to first answer the following questions:

• What time of year are you looking for?
• How many guests do you want… and who goes on the guest list?
• What’s your budget for the event? Once you have a budget, you can start looking at venues in your price range.
