Mrs. Firefly, New York Age and Occupation in 06: 31, Attorney Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance Engagement Date: April 11, 2004 Wedding Date: June, 2006 Venue: Battery Gardens About Me: I was born in the city of Donetsk in the former Soviet Union (now the Ukraine) and grew up in Brooklyn. Many of my parent's friends are from Russia and the Ukraine as well. We want all of our guests to have a great time and hit the dance floor so we've hired a band that can play both Russian and American music; not to mention a mean rendition of the Gypsy Kings and chair-raising hora!

Losing Steam?

March 7th, 2006 @ 10:08 am by Mrs. Firefly

I sometimes find that my interest in wedding planning comes in waves. One week, I’ll research everything — favors from zimbabwe, top ten dance instructors for the cha-cha, I’ll book vendors, buy glassware, edit invite designs.

And then there is the lull. Nothing to do; no interest to do it. I feel like I’m in a holding pattern. Am I the only bride-to-be whose interest in the wedding waxes and wanes?

It’s perfectly normal… I think I didn’t do anything for about a month midway thru planning because I got fed up with it all.

Wedding planning is almost an additional full-time job!

i agree with mrs. bee - there are some days when i just have to tell myself, absolutely no more wedding planning!! otherwise, i would burn myself out!!

I have the same issue…I keep thinking I am not productive for the wedding and I end up pushing myself further and book all my weekends up and then get upset that I don’t have my weekends free and come to a complete halt on the planning.

i’m just in the beginning stages of planning, and i am going through the waves of spending days looking for a site, then just needing a break…i think the breaks are good…they keep you sane!!
