My wedding veil came in. Thank you you wonderful homosapiens at Wedding Veil!
Hannah’s dress and the 2 sashes came in today. Thank God!

I ordered my flower girl baskets on ebay just now.
I just ordered my aisle runner (in ivory) online too from Bride’s Village.
My last fitting is scheduled for this week. I have LOTS to do this week!

Miss Ladybug has one month left until her wedding. In the past two weeks she has:

Miss Firefly has 3 months left until her wedding. In the past two weeks she has:

Miss Butterfly has 8 months left until her wedding. In the past 2 weeks she has:

Miss Ant has 8 months left until her wedding. In the past 2 weeks she has finished:
… nothing! Haha.
Planning a destination wedding is so easy. There’s only one florist, one DJ, one officiant, an on site cake maker, a wedding coordinator at the resort… really not that many decisions to make. Pretty stress-free so far!

I secretly love Impression Bridal. They offer nothing that is not crazy. And their gowns even work miracles! From their press release about “Magic Fit”:
Magic Fit gowns have been engineered to reduce the wearers’ waist size by up to three inches while simultaneously increasing her bust measurement by the same. Other elements of magic fit are more subtle, decreasing the need for alterations and flattering the bodies’ natural shape.
Amazing, no? Maybe it moves the fat up from the mid-section and adds it to the bust. I think I had that idea some time ago, but the technical aspects eluded me.
I’m going to cut back on blogging till post wedding. I just have so much to do and not enough time. Mr. Ladybug told me today that he felt that the wedding was more important than him and when I looked at him I saw such sadness that it really broke my heart. ![]()
He can tell me that he’s pissed off at me or scream at me about something and usually I’ll fight back cause I can handle that. But when he tells me that something I did hurt him in some way it really, truly breaks my heart and I cried because I know that I was the one to make him feel that way. I’m tearing now writing about it. ![]()
He also confessed that he reads this page but has not gone far back as to looking at my dress. Hun, I can’t even put in to words how much I love you. I’m so sorry. You will always be 1st on my list no matter what. Fuck the wedding. You’re what makes my heart flutter.
I love you.
I never thought I’d be one of those brides…It makes me sad.

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Mr. Bee and I had been living together for 6 months before we got married. Did things instantly change or feel different after we were married? Well it did take me awhile to get used to calling Mr. Bee “my husband.” But the biggest difference was how we brought our own ideas of what a husband or wife should be into the marriage.
I’m constantly defining myself in terms of what makes a “good wife.” I feel guilty if I haven’t cooked or cleaned (which is quite often)… But Mr. Bee could care less about any of these things and they don’t make him love me any more more or less. (Although I must admit when he cleans or does the dishes I do love him just a little bit more.
)
He sent me a link to this interesting blog today about how people love their spouses through their definitions of love (cooking, cleaning) and not in ways the other person needs. It was an interesting read and I can see my own parents in that story and perhaps a bit of myself as well.
I’ve decided to care less about being a superwife. So what if I put off the laundry or the dishes… that’ll be time we can spend together instead. ![]()
I’ve been reading a lot more books about bridal stuff lately. I mean, now that I can. Prior to being engaged, I would feel guilty and embarrassed to look through the bridal section of magazines, books, etc. God forbid some stranger looks upon me and thinks “Oh, that poor little girl - she wants so badly to get engaged… how sad.”
Not that it would happen. But I’m just paranoid.
Anyway, I bought 2 books over the weekend.
I used to ![]()

the Chicken soup series. Yes, it’s cheesy and corny, but oh my god, did they make me cry and laugh. However, this particular book was really disappointing. Aside from a few stories that made you go “awwww,” the rest of it was really bad. The stories are so generic, there is nothing special about them or the way that they are told… it was just very disappointing. I hate it when books are disappointing.
The other book I bought, which I have much higher expectations for…
If you guys remember, this was featured by Mrs. Bee, so I bought it for Mr. Butterfly. Of course, I’m going to read it first. I will write my opinions on it when I’m done.
Other books I browsed through, but couldnt bring myself to buy…
Mr. Butterfly and I looked through it for tuxedo ideas, as well as veils and hair styles. Good book for pictures of what you want (example - I do not want to do a garter ceremony, especially after looking at Britney Spears and her garter ceremony pictures).

Not that I have anything against books of this kind… but do you really need a book to tell you what to register for? Hmmmm….
Anyway, stay tuned for more over the next few months (especially in the summer)!!

Most guys like gadgets and lighters and James Bond. This stealthy zippo digital camera from Urban Outfitters combines the best of those worlds.

It doesn’t have an LCD screen but that’s because it “makes the spying much more covert.” Features include:
At $130, it’s a good choice for an ultra cool groomsman’s gift. If it doubled as a real lighter, now that would be freaking awesome.

Another great groomsman’s gift idea on the site is the ipod JBL speaker for $149.99. But shop around on this one because I’ve seen it for cheaper on sites like Amazon.

I was suprised when I received my recent Urban Outfitters catalog because now they’re carrying some cool electronic items like the ipod mixing station. I can always find cool things there. I love Urban Outfitters and its girlier sister store Anthropologie. Did you know they’re owned by the same company?
I had my first breakdown last Tuesday where I locked myself in the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and proceeded to cry. It felt damn good too. I can’t believe it took me this long to have a breakdown. I just felt like everything was crashing down on me. What broke me was Saeyoung Vu and my volunteer planner.
Yes a situation has come up. We purchased our bridesmaid dresses at the end of October/early November from Saeyoung Vu. It clearly states on their site to allow 12 weeks for delivery. When we went to the boutique, they told us to give them anywhere from 8-12. Fine, that’s plenty of time.
I received Anna & Shawnie’s dresses 17 weeks later minus the sashes. Shawnie just told me that the boning in her dress was off to the side. We were told that Hannah’s dress was going to arrive with the sashes, at the latest, by the last week of March because they were still waiting for the chocolate fabric. That’s 21 weeks! It’s taking them 21 weeks to order chocolate fabric? I was livid! Plus the woman I’ve been corresponding with was VERY patronizing on the phone. “I’m sorry, you said when we first purchased the dresses that it would take anywhere from 8-12 weeks?” Her response? “Mmm hmmm, okay?”
I’ve been dealing with this woman for the past 4 weeks. I just didn’t want to deal with it anymore. Hannah was pissed. She emailed the company a letter and also fowarded it to the GA location (which is where she purchased hers) and the NY location. What happens next? Both locations called me to apologize. My contact person all of a sudden is sooo sweet.
I’m not buying it. I don’t think that you get this from my writing but I can be a push over. Really. Yes I talk a lot of smack but what it comes down to it, I don’t like being mean to people. I’m a wus which is why everyone around me is a bitch and they take care of things for me.
I spoke with Hannah on Friday morning and she asked me how we were going to get compensated for it. She told me to call them and told me to get a refund for the sashes. I told her I didn’t want to call them because I don’t want to be mean (stop laughing you bitches). She told me I had to be more assertive and that I didn’t have to be mean and that I just have to tell them in a polite but business like way that you tried to f*** with us, we called you on it, now make it up to us.
I called. Spoke with the same woman and was very polite. I told her that we wanted to be compensated for it in some way. We’re getting a refund on the sashes and the tier that’s supposed to be on the bottom of Hannah’s dress. Refund: $120.00. I’m happy that they owned up to their mistake and tried to make up for it. That was the least they could do. Also, Hannah’s dress and the sashes are now coming in on Tuesday. Yippee!
Moral of the story:
Don’t f*** with me cause then I’ll tell my sister and my girlfriends and they will cut you and devour you like a piece of bulgogi.

My little niece will be two years old in June. Will she make it down the aisle? Maybe. Will she look adorable? ABSOLUTELY!
I’ve been checking out various dresses. I know she’ll look adorable in almost any dress, so I don’t want to spend too much money. My goal is to match my bridesmaid dresses (and I don’t want to go with lavender). I will most likely have to go with a white or ivory dress with a purple sash. (Question: If my dress is ivory, can my niece wear a white dress?)
Because I’m tired of looking, I’ll probably go with the basic Us Angels through NetBride which offers great prices (under $100 for most styles). My sister likes organza skirts, so generally speaking, all-silk dresses are out.
Storybook has some great dresses, many for $100 or less, but none that would go with my purple bridesmaid dresses:
Pegeen almost has too many dresses to chose from (I’m not the best decision maker … okay, that’s a HUGE understatement). Miss Ladybug bought her flower girl’s dress there, so I’m waiting for her reviews. The dresses are priced at $99 (for in-stock specials) to $199, depending on size and style. They carry 66 colors of silk in stock and for an extra charge, can provide custom fabrics:
I love the custom dresses from String of Pearls Designs as featured in this knottie’s wedding. The dresses (for a few styles about which I inquired) range from $150 - $260 (depending on the style and size). For my size 3T niece, the dress would be $190 - although over my budget, the quality of the dresses is supposed to be fantastic, and the styles are on par with the pricey Kaya Couture and ultra-pricey Joan Calabrese.
Looking to spend less than $50 on dresses? If you live in NYC, try Century 21 - they have a large selection of pastel colored flower girl and Easter dresses and even carry some styles from Us Angels for $49. One warning, many of the dresses are a bit dusty around the edges and will need to be dry-cleaned.
On the internet, there are too many sources to list, check ebay or just google “flower girl dresses.” The best I’ve found are these dresses for $42 from Briar Patch; too bad they don’t come in my colors!
We will have two ring bearers at the wedding - Mr. Firefly’s 5 year old nephew and my not-quite 4 year old nephew. We’ll also have my 2 year old neice as a flower girl… but we’re not banking on her actually making it down the aisle.
Since the little ones grow in spurts, I’ve been putting off ordering their outfits, but with just over 3 months left, it’s time I focus on it. I was originally going to order the tuxes from Briar Patch. At $52 - $78 (depending on the size), the prices seemed reasonable (even for 100% polyester).
I found ebay seller Kids Town Online through knottie CaliCayman for only $25! Her wedding looked incredible, so if they’re good enough for her, they’re good enough for me. Plus, I like the look of straight ties better than bow ties!
I like these undies from CustomGlamGirl! Perhaps in blue with rhinestones?
$13.99
$19.99 with Rhinestones
Although I had been planning to do this for a while, I finally booked our ride for the wedding from Film Cars:
Since the ceremony and reception are at the same location, we don’t really need a car. But I thought it would be fun to drive around the cab during cocktail hour and take pictures around lower Manhattan.
