Wedding Realities - Part I (Getting Ready & Ceremony)

THE RECESSIONAL

Here we have the bride getting her moment while the groom gets his first dose of reality. (Mindy Myers)

I’m guessing the sparklers were NOT the groom’s idea… (haha)

Rice throwing = payback time. (Craig Mitchelldyer)

THE RECEPTION

First and foremost, your guests are looking forward to free alcohol and getting drunk. (Mark Kegans)

Grandma is no exception… (Neil Cowley)

Okay, perhaps there’s one exception. (Val McKenna)

Think being a bride protects you from humiliation? Think again! (Hun Kim)

Oooh.. revenge is sweet. (Sue Cunningham)

I totally do not expect a “perfect” wedding day. Life isn’t a rehearsed production, and a wedding is no exception. Mishaps and accidents will happen. But that’s okay! Brides should realize that their wedding isn’t a show for an audience to oooh and aaah over- it’s a CELEBRATION with the people they love!

Of course, it’s important to take care of any problems that come up. But your wedding party and coordinator are there to help, so do not hesitate to delegate responsibilities to reliable people. As long as their duties are reasonable, they will understand and be glad to help on your wedding day!

What mishaps have you seen at real weddings?

Haha the little boy throwing the rice has such a vicious look on his face!

The only real wedding mishap I ever saw was an outdoor wedding where it rained and there was nothing set up ahead of time. Its every bride’s nightmare to have it rain on your special day but its also a bit unfair for your guests to have to sit outside in the rain as well. All in all though it was a beautiful ceremony of love (what all weddings are afterall) and Tony (your photographer and mine) was able to get some cool umbrella shots (he told me after I commented on the lack of provisions for the rain) so even in tragedy there are always bright spots…you just need to find them

Thanks for the shout-out! :) The ‘humiliation’ one is my hubby’s image.
