hello! i don’t know if you had blog about this before but i was wondering (since i do not know nyc that well even though i’ve lived here for 4 years now)….

i was thinking about having a korean wedding instead of a traditional american wedding. my fiance is actually cantonese (his family is all in HK).

do you have any advice on where i could have the wedding in ny? do you think it will be more expensive than a american wedding…. and also if you could write a little bit about what goes on a korean wedding? thank you!

i just searched for korean weddings! the hanboks are so beautiful…. do you know where i can get a hanbok here in nyc? sorry with so many questions about this.. i just don’t know

There is actually a hanbok museum in koreatown in manhattan. They also sell hanboks there but they were very pricey. I would look in the Flushing Area for a store. You can find listings in the Korean Yellow Pages.

As far as what goes into a Korean wedding, I’m not sure if you’re just talking about the paebaek ceremony?

yes i’m sorry paebaek ceremony is more like a reception? i’m not really sure since i’ve never been to one

well in korea, they actually do the american white dress, walk down the aisle ceremony. The paebaek is done in private with the family. In America, the paebaek is often done in front of all the guests. If you wanted to forgo an “american” wedding altogether, you could have just a paebaek ceremony as your ceremony.

The company I used did everything for me - helped me bow, brought the clothing, the decorations. They did a fantastic job. I’m sure they also sell hanboks. Rose Handicraft - 718-359-0430. Good luck!
