Wedding Purse

May 3rd, 2006 @ 1:30 pm by Mrs. Firefly

I’m on the hunt for a purse. The big debate is whether to buy a bag that is: (1) cheap and off-white that I’ll never wear again, (2) glittery that I’ll rarely wear again, or (3) pale gold and practical and will be worn all the time.

This is a cheap option from White Aisle for $35. I would probably give it to my baby niece to play dress-up with after the wedding.

I also found this cute fabric and mother-of-pearl purse at Ann Taylor. It’s less than $100; I think I would go with it if it went on sale.

I love the glittery Moyna bags that Mrs. Bee blogged about yesterday. If I go with a champagne color, I might actually get some use out of it. Priced around $200.

Stuart Weitzman has gorgeous evening bags, but not quite my style (and a bit pricey at $345).

Lauren Merkin is the practical route. Her bags are great and I’ve been meaning to get one anyway. Pale gold would certainly match with my dress, but it’s not very “bridey.” This Eve purse is $180, but Daily Candy is offering a 25% discount. Just type in DCMERKIN at checkout.

What to do… what to do?

Though the moyna bags are pretty - you’re right - you’d only wear them on special occasions. The Laura Merkin is definitely the way to go. You’ll get a lot of mileage out of it.

i bought a cheap off white purse (that i didn’t really end up using anyway) and gave it to my niece after the wedding. when she was a flowergirl in my sil’s wedding last month, she brought the purse. =)

I just ordered the Lauren Merkin in pale gold!!! With the discount, but plus shipping and tax, it came out to $155 … not bad and I’ll wear it all the time.

I have my eye on this gorgeous gold Jimmy Choo clutch, which I tell myself I would use forever and ever. But, I have to ask myself — will I really even carry a bag around the wedding? I’ll probably just get a little bag and force my maid-of-honor to carry it for me.

The Moyna bags definetly. It’s wedding-y…after all it is your big day….

Since you’ll be super busy at ur wedding…you prob. won’t need a purse…so an inexpensive one is prob. better…the first one satisfies that…

You know what?! Ebay.com has some great looking ones and really good prices. Some are gorgeous and if you just plan on using it for the wedding and giving it to your neice, it is so worth it!

Just check it out ;)

i had a great purse i absolutely loved because it went great with my shoes and dress… but to be honest- i don’t have a single picture of me holding the purse since most of the time i was carrying my bouquet or nothing at all. the only picture i have is one of the “details” of the wedding photos that my photographer took. a better idea is to save your money - have you MOH hold onto your stuff. if you are willing to spend some $$$, splurge on getting something nice for yourself that you can use after the wedding–whether it be a purse, shoes…. or a massage for all the hard work you do.

my pick would be the champagne color one. Although $200 is pretty steep.
