Flo’s Bridal Shower

May 18th, 2006 @ 12:13 pm by Mrs. Spider

My cousin Judith and I threw a bridal shower for Judith’s sister Florence. We spent the better part of 2 weeks preparing for her shower. Below are pictures of some of the DIY projects we accomplished:

invitation

Judith designed and printed the text and images and we used rubber cement to paste it on blue metallic cardstock. The two invitations (with different info) were then held together with a thin cloth paper sleeve.

We made these tissue paper flowers a la Martha Stewart. We folded sheets of tissue paper accordian style, secured the middle with floral wire and then delicately unfolded each layer. We made different sizes and different styles (round edges, sharp edges, full edges).

The winning team in the toilet paper bridal gown game won these floral mugs. We made the tags with gold cardstock and stamps (Judith has an amazing stamp collection).

Judith works at a fragrance company so she custom made these candles and roll on fragrances as favors for the guests. You did not read wrong, she MADE THESE - the fragrance, the labels, the candles EVERYTHING.

Judith also made this candle for the winner of Who Knows the Bride Best.

prize wrap

Cupcakes from Magnolia. We made these personalized flags and the sign.

Signs for the door knobs around the apartment. Images were printed out and then pasted on the same metallic cardstock. Notice my trusty paper cutter.

I made this wrapping paper with thin white cloth paper and pink tissue paper underneath and the flower with the same Martha Stewart tissue paper technique.

We had an hour long scrapbooking session that everyone LOVED. This is the cover photo.

The shower was so much fun to plan, organize AND attend. You tell me Judith and I aren’t Chinese Martha Stewarts~!!

This is an AMAZING shower. The flowers look great–and not so hard to make, I guess. I hope my shower is as nice!

haha thanks~! we used floral wire to tie the tissue paper in the center and then clear jewelry wire/string to hang the flowers up. You can get them at any crafts store for dirt cheap.

What an inspiration! I’m in the process of throwing a bridal shower for a friend of mine in 2 weeks and this is absolute inspiration. Unfortunately I don’t have the skill you do to be so Martha Stewart-esque but at least it gives me some ideas. How did she make the fragrances and the lovely packaging????

unfortunately my cousin had ppl at the fragrance company she works for make her the candles and roll on fragrances. but she designed and printed the labels on plain white Avery labels. also we simply wrapped them with white plastic and tied one with 99 cent twine (the kind you use for your recyclables) and the other with ribbon that we bought on sale at Michaels for 50cents a roll. you can buy cheap candles at an arts supplies store and customize it with your own labels and ribbons~! =)

I love all of the DIY things that the two of you did! I tried making the tissue paper flowers and they’re super easy. I think it looks the best when you cut the edge at an angle, leaving a pointy end. Hope the bridal shower I’m planning is half as cute as the one you planned.
