Second Fitting

May 20th, 2006 @ 5:44 pm by Mrs. Firefly

I had my second fitting at Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier today.

I had my first fitting back in March and I’ve tried to be good since then. Nothing dramatic, but I did manage to lose around 8 pounds, which translated to around an inch off of each of my measurements. I can definitely tell that I lost weight in my regular clothes, but I just don’t see it in the dress;-(

I want to make the bow bigger and get a sparkly pin to put in the middle.

The way I wish I looked ;-(. By the way, the model is wearing nothing underneath the lace top, which is why you can see the lace all the way down. Clearly, that’s not an option for me.

EDIT: I am wearing just an off-white bustier underneath. There is an off-white camisole that comes with the dress, but it’s just extra padding (which I obviously don’t need ) and covers more lace than the bustier alone.

would a nude-colored top work? so there will be more lace visible?

you look beautiful in that dress, i love it! i especially love the satiny sheen of the bow in the 2nd fittings. i agree with miss caterpillar, i think you’re more gorgeous than the model.

I also think you look better than the model. That’s just how they show clothes. The suits you, not her. I can also see the 8 pounds. Congrats!

i say you try a nude camisole and see if that looks good too. i love this dress on you and since the lace top is the emphasis on the dress, wouldn’t you want to “expose” more of the lace?
and of course the sash is so pretty, i like how you tied it into a bigger bow in the second fitting, but how about moving it more to the side? it’ll flatter the dress more.

your dress is gorgeous! i absolutely love the lace. i agree, i think you should go with something nude underneath. wearing white doesn’t do the dress any justice!

thanks ladies. I am wearing an off-white bustier underneath. There is an off-white camisol that comes with the dress, but its just extra padding (which I obviously don’t need) and covers more “ground than the bustier alone. I’m not sure if a nude bustier would work, since it may actually show through and I wouldn’t want to wear a nude camisol, because, again, it just makes for more padding …

Hi there Miss Firefly!

I read your earlier post about make-up trials and it inspired me to look for the perfect wedding day look make-up. Thanks for mentioning Bobbi Brown make-up. I think I may go with that one too. Check out my blog at http://www.weddingnc.blogspot.com to see my test runs.

PS Your dress is beautiful and I agree a bigger bow will look stunning. Keep up the good work.

in the second pic (first fitting) I’m wearing the camisol … I’m wearing just the bustier in the other pics (second fitting) … can you see the difference? I could see it in real life, more skin was exposed, but i’m not sure the difference comes through in these pics.

i think the brooch on the bow will definitely be the finishing touch! if you haven’t purchased one already, check out regina b. that’s where i bought my earrings and mrs. ladybug bought her brooch… they have a great selection and regina is super duper nice… but if you want anything customized from them you need to act now cuz your wedding is jus around the corner! =)

oooo the lace makes it so conservatively sexy! you look lovely Ms.FF! are we shortening the bow or letting it as is?

you look beautiful! i agree with the others, try a nude bustier to show off the lace. 8 lbs in 2 months is quite an accomplishment!

You really look fabulous and the weight loss definitely shows. I agree with some of the options to try as said above - trying a nude bustier to see which look you prefer (though it looks great as is), possibly shifting the bow off center more (as pictured on model), and brooch could look stunning :)
