About Mrs. Grasshopper

When I finally bought my dress in December the last thing Olga, my sales friend, said to me was, “We’ll see you in May. Don’t forget to bring your heels and veil!” Sure! No problem, I have over five months to hunt for the perfect shoes. We have now reached mid-May and I am still shoes-and-veil-less and my dress should arrive next week. I need to act fast, but I just cannot decide.

Do I drop some serious cash on a pair of white Stuart Weitzman or Filippa Scott heels I will never wear again just because it is my wedding day?

Do I try to think more practically and pick up a great pair of silver strappy heels that I can wear again and again, and be reminded of my day with every outing to the Lower East Side?

What about the shoes that look a bit like something Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman (pre-makeover)? They certainly look fun, but are they wedding appropriate? If you have to question something, that probably means it is tacky, right?

out of the ones you have up i think the last one is the best.
and why not something more extravagent for your wedding??
but in the end comes down to your personal style.

Assuming you’re wearing a floor length gown, get the silver strappy ones you can wear even after your wedding. I like the idea of being able to wear something that reminds me of a major milestone in my life.

Even if you chose to get the Stuart Weitsman shoes, you’d be able to wear it again I’m sure. The Filippa Scott one, I’m not too sure about, unless you dye it black after your wedding. I bought a pair of Cynthia Rowley shoes which I’m planning on dying blue (for my something blue) for the wedding then black afterwards.

i’m the type that makes sure i get my uses out of things, so i’d go with the silver strappy ones. your footwear won’t really be seen under your dress. and you can wear them again. i went with a pair of silver sandals myself.

I dropped some serious $$$ for my shoes. I will probably have them re-dyed to black or something so that I can wear them again.

Shoes were definitely a source of stress for me too, but in the end, I got a pair of slightly chunky peter fox shoes that i know i’ll love and wear when i dye black after

I went with gold sandals — you won’t be able to see them under my dress, and I know I’ll get some wear out of them.

I bought shoes for like $60, wore them once, then donated them to charity.
