About Miss Bee

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride

May 25th, 2006 @ 2:43 pm by Miss Bee

Hey, it’s Mr. Bee again. In my role as Weddingbee.com handyman, I often install little gadgets and doohickeys for Mrs. Bee. Recently I installed one that logs the most frequently asked search terms. I thought the results were fascinating:

  1. bridesmaid
  2. veil
  3. bridal shower
  4. hair
  5. flower girl

I was shocked by these findings. We’ve been so focused on brides, we’ve forgotten about bridesmaids! But it totally makes sense that bridesmaid would be the #1 search… after all, there’s an average of 4 bridesmaids for every bride!

Should we blog more about bridesmaids?

I agree with all of the above but also in relation to relationships and trials and tribulations that the wedding bees have experienced. I also like the gifts, accessories, and creative ways of saying thanks!

that is a great idea. afterall, you only get married once (hopefully) but can be a bridesmaid multiple times! this weekend will be my third time as a bm and later on this year, a fourth!

Speaking of bridesmaids…my fiance and I are stuck on how many to have. I want 4, he wants 5 in his party, but I don’t want an odd number (I think it looks strange in pictures). but we both think that 6 is too many. Any advice?

As a first time bridesmaid, I would greatly appreciate another resource to use to prepare for my friend’s wedding and plan the bridal shower.

Hi Mrs Bee,

I really enjoyed your entry regarding hanboks. For my wedding I am leaning toward wearing only a hanbok, rather than opting for that in addition to a western-style gown, so it is really important to me that I get a hanbok that is high quality, and that appeals to my aesthetic.

I will be visiting Seoul for a few months over the summer and plan to look around at stores and tailors then. My Korean language skills are shameful at best, so it looks like I’ll be soliciting the help of my various aunts and cousins, who in turn, speak relatively little English. Do you have any advice regarding such a purchase? May I ask where you ended up purchasing from?

Thanks for your time!
