About Mrs. Ladybug

Florist - Antheia

May 25th, 2006 @ 10:50 am by Mrs. Ladybug

So lately I’ve been exploring my neighborhood. It all started when I was walking home after I got off the Path and decided to go into Gourmet Organic. I bought a grapefruit for 2 bucks (Are you friggin kiddin me? I didn’t even eat it. It went bad after a week and I chucked it) and a jar of mango chutney.

While I was there I picked up a new neigborhood magazine called NEW. It listed a lot of trendy places in Jersey City so I decided that I wanted to check some of them out. A few weeks back Mr. Ladybug and I went out to get Saturday brunch (I love brunch) at Beechwood Cafe. Not bad, the service sucks, but our waiter was very accomodating while we waited for our food.

Another day, after work, we decided to get burritos at Bubby’s Burritos (no website yet). The burritos are ginormous! This past weekend my sister and I went to check out a vintage store 3 blocks from my house called Hala Vintage. I never buy anything at vintage stores but I love going to them.

After flipping through my little magazine I noticed they listed a florist, Antheia, so I went to check out the site. Gorgeous flowers! Hopefully I’ll get to stop by soon just to pop my head in and to take a lil looksie. What girl doesn’t love flowers?

Ha I’m in Downtown Jersey City too.
You should go by Paulus Hook and try Presto’s Italian. Its soo delicious. La Rustique makes good pizza.

Is great for finding places.

Some more JC info.

H&H bagels can be found at Baker Boys
and the Little Sandwich Shop.
Both places have really nice people working there.
You can get a really cheap breakfast from the Hardgrove cafe. Eggs, pancakes and stuff.

The Pancake Factory is not that great.

Good Mexican is Baja, even though its a chain. But me and my fiance definitly like it better
than Pavonia/Newport’s Ole.

JC is definitely lacking good Chinese, Thai, Pizza and bagels.
Thats why usually if I want a bagel, I’ll go to where they have H&H.
Pizza, Helens is ok. La Rustique is definitely better, but its more of a brick oven type pizza and more expensive.

Toricos on Eerie and 1st is a nice mom and pop icecream shoppe.

If you love tea–Janam on Grove is good.

Also on Grove is Bagua they make great smoothies.

During the summer its nice to walk towards the water by Paulus Hook, there you can
see the Statue of Liberty. Also Hamilton Park is a nice stroll too.
