Digital vs. Film

June 1st, 2006 @ 11:10 am by Mrs. Bee

When deciding between digital vs. film photography for our wedding, we chose to go with film. I always thought film produced superior quality images, and I liked the old world, grainy quality that you get with film - especially in black and white pictures.

But in the past couple of years, digital photography has really come a long way. And as an avid amateur photographer, I’ve come to appreciate the crisp, vibrant images digital photography produces. Digital photographs also provide more versatility when it comes to touch-ups, applying effects, and they’re easier to print for your friends and family.

I think both formats have their advantages and disadvantages, but if I had to choose one or the other now, I would probably go with digital. Of course a combination of the two would be ideal. :)

What type of photography format are you using?

my hubby & i shoot only in DIGITAL & it’s the most effective… not only is it easier to send pictures to friends & family, but it great if you want a magazine/flush-mount/coffee table album :)

the photographer i’m thinking of booking uses film and scans in negatives into digital format. i think that’s the best of both worlds.

but i really picked my photographer because of his talent and technique– i don’t think i really cared as much whether he uses digital or film, as long as i end up having digital files in the end. :)
