We Make Things Happen!

June 2nd, 2006 @ 11:28 am by Mrs. Grasshopper

I have been a blogging slacker this week! I apologize. But on the other hand, we have been getting wedding business done all over the place. As you read last week, I was freaking out about all the stuff we had to do still and how we were behind. When I reviewed Martha’s checklist of wedding tasks I realized we really needed to get to work. The 100 day mark until the wedding just passed. OH MY GOODNESS.

Last Saturday we reserved our transportation for the day of the wedding. When I called the limo company, the nice man took down all my information and while I was waiting for him to look up some addresses, I turned to Mr. Grasshopper, sitting next to me on the couch, and said “See, we make things happen” and the limo man started cracking up.

Monday we booked our rehearsal dinner. We are pretty psyched about this because it will be in the garden of our favorite restaurant in Brooklyn, Chestnut. If you have not tried it yet, I highly recommend it. I think it will be nice to have a “quiet” evening in our neighborhood the night before the wedding.

Tuesday we decided to rent a tent for our cocktail hour. This way if it is nice out, we’ll have the ceremony under the blue skies of Long Island City, cocktail hour under the ridiculous tent I did not want to rent, and dinner and dancing back indoors. If it rains, we’ll have the ceremony indoors, cocktail hour outside under the tent that I will be loving at that point, and dinner and dancing back indoors.

And finally, today we finished our invitations! Hooray! We designed them ourselves and still need to decide on our printing method, but I think we’ll splurge on the letterpress option. It just looks so nice, though I honestly have never given the invitations I have received much attention, so….I dunno. I’ll let you know what we decide and post them when they are done.

This weekend we are off to look at wedding bands and we are going to decide if we need a day of coordinator. Next week we have appointments for suits and space lighting. Things are moving along!

Glad things are moving along quite smoothly for you! In regards to your tent, do you mind sharing with me about how much it’s costing you? My dream is to have some sort of tent for my wedding. But I heard it’s quite expensive…
