About Mrs. Bee

Dear Weddingbee

June 5th, 2006 @ 10:22 am by Mrs. Bee

Our wedding in Tuscany is in 3 weeks and we are down to the wire!!! I have been going back and forth with the caterers and I am stumped between serving duck or pork? There is also a sea bass dish for fish eaters. So definitely sea bass, but what about the other main? Duck or Pork?? Help!

Thanks so much ( I thought this was a last resort)…

Jane

What should Jane serve?

The decision would be easy for me - I don’t like duck! =)

Do you have any Jews or Muslims attending? Pork is a huge no no for both religions… for that reason, I’d go with the safer bet (Duck).

Btw Tuscany has fantastic meat… is it possible to get some red meat on the menu?

Beef is an option, but I wanted to offer something different. The pork is a filet seasoned with traditional tuscan seasonings and a Chianti Classico wine reduction and the duck is a breast with traditional aged balsamic vinager. Most guests are either from the UK or Europe with a handful of Americans. I know of one guest that doesn’t eat pork, but that’s it. I love both. The fiance is a vegetarian. . .

Pork and Duck are two very high risk foods. I would choose at least one “safe” food like Beef… than supplement that with a fun choice like Pork or Duck.

Good luck!

Oops sorry, didn’t realize you already had a fish picked out! I guess I am just scared of seafood and pork, because neither of them are kosher. But I may just be too American here… sounds like there won’t be many people keeping kosher at your wedding.

But umm… never mind what I said about choosing a safe food - sounds like your Sea Bass is your safety net. Good luck with your choice!

When I have 70 voter responses, I will see which is higher and that will be the verdict. Thanks everyone!
