Letterpress

June 7th, 2006 @ 3:02 pm by Mrs. Grasshopper

Last week I sent around quite a few emails to letterpress printers requesting estimates. I had designed our wedding invites myself and just needed someone to print them. I finally decided on Peter Kruty Editions. They were nice to work with over email and the phone, gave great suggestions on how to prep the artwork, and came back with an estimate that was quite a bit less expensive than the other New York based companies.

If you are a do it yourself bride and want to design your own invites, or would love to have one of the very talented designers at a letterpress house design your invitations, check out this list of letterpress printers:

Peter Kruty Editions
Coeur Noir
Sway Space
Mercurio Brothers
Wood Side Press
EM Letterpress
Moon Tree Arts

Sesame Letterpress
Papercup Design

If you are a really crazy bride, you could learn to do your own letterpress at the Center for Book Arts. The next class is June 14th, though it looks like they have a waitlist already!

I LOVE letterpressed invites too. I used Oblation Papers - http://www.oblationpapers.com for mine - the “unite” design. I fell in love with them when i first saw a year ago in an ad and ordered last month. but i just love the look of letterpress!

I used letterpress for mine, but was an unwise bride (non-knottie at that point) and didn’t shop around…could have made the difference in the way I felt about them!

I also wanted to add another vendor that I’ve heard spoken highly of by several knotties: http://www.superiorletterpress.com. What’s nice is he’ll do smaller batches at a fair price.

I love letterpress! Its so elegant and beautiful!! I know it can get pretty pricey, but if you think about it, you’ll spend a few hundred more dollars to have something absolutely breathtaking — and how many times do we get married?? well, once for most of us :)

I really love these letterpress invites: http://www.twenty3rdstreet.com

they have a big variety of designs (something I seem to have trouble finding). I’m most likely going to get my invites here — now i just have to decide on one!.. haha, i kinda like em all.

I use a letterpress printer who does very good high end quality work and the best part is that he is much less than most of the letterpress printers that I work with. He does small orders, and sends out samples so if you need a sample please email me info@invitationimagination.com I do have letterpress samples on my site (www.invitationimagintion.com) but they cost much more than this printer, probably because he is just getting Whatever the reason,he is good and fast and inexpensive.
