Photo Cubes!

June 7th, 2006 @ 12:49 pm by Mrs. Butterfly

Someone at my work has something like this on his desk, and I absolutely love this idea for a wedding!

I’ve looked on-line for some cheap plastic cubes, and I can’t find them. All of the ones I found were around $20 to $25 - which is a little too expensive to put on every table.

However, my friend had a great idea! Why don’t you just make them yourself? Of course, you’ll need sturdy photo quality paper, a template, and some images.

For the template, you can go here and buy one for $15 - this software will do everything for you. All you have to do is drop the images into the box, print it out and glue it together.

If you don’t want to pay the $15, you can download a trial version - but one side of the cube will have the company logo on it. I just did a quick trial to see what it would look like.

Pretty cool, huh? I’m not that much of a DIY bride, but I think I am definitely going to do this for my wedding (if I have the time :P).

This is a cool idea but if you think about it, one side will always be down so no one can see it. So I guess…put a surprise picture at the bottom! =)

Do you need to glue them to something or the template lets you just use it as is?

I’ve seen this done too - not with that cool template but with pictures just cut into squares. You can find wooden cubes at hardware stores or lumber supply and glue the templates to them - shouldn’t be too expensive. That way it’d be sturdy, and that should be a lot cheaper than $20 a pop!

Here is a link on to make your own photo block. A video is included. I think this would be the cheapest option.
