My Thank You Cards

June 8th, 2006 @ 11:20 am by Mrs. Ladybug

My Thank You Cards : wedding new york Censored Holy frozen monkey balls! Silverback gorillas to be specific. Our computer virus is still there, but for the past 2 days our internet was down? What the hell? It’s always something new every friggin week! *le sigh* I HAVE HAD IT UP TO HERE (I know you can’t see here but I’m holding my hand up pretty high) AND I AM probably not going to do anything about it cause I’m a lazy bitch. haha…

Anyways I have a treat for you ladies today. If you haven’t noticed, I have not posted up anything on thank you cards. That’s because I haven’t done them and it’s now been almost 2 months since the wedding. How late is too late? I have researched this question. My sister went to her friend’s wedding and got a thank you card 3 months later and she thought it was a little late.

I searched online and someone got married and hadn’t found the time to do thank you cards till a year later and was wondering if she should still send them out. HELLS YEAH HEIFER! These people took the time out and saved this date on their calendar to spend that special day with you. If you don’t send a thank you card and acknowledge your guests’ generosity, they will think that you’re an ingrate. Me, personally, I couldn’t care less if people didn’t send me a thank you card but you can be sure if I ever got into a tiff with the girl later on I will bring that shit up in a heart beat. I can picture it now:

The bride who never sent me a thank you card: I can’t believe you told my husband that I was pregnant! I told you I wanted it to be a surprise!!!
Me: OH YEAH?! Well YOU never sent me a thank you card!!!!!!!!!!!

My Thank You Cards : wedding new york Pleased I would totally win that one. Hands down!

Ok so the point is, no matter how late it is, just send it out…yes, yes even if it’s a year late!

I just bought my thank you card supplies and yes it’s another DIY! Woohoo! Someone give me a high five! Anyone? Anyone? Hello? ….or don’t. Whatever.

So I went to Paper Presentation on Tuesday with Anna and bought 100 plain folding cards and 100 plain envelopes (4bar, I think the color was Duchess Felt? Anna help me out here).

Here’s the plain card and then….

…Bam! I stamped the front with my medium sized peony stamp (With Flash)

Without Flash

Then I stamped it again with my small peony stamp.

Then I stamped it with a wam bam THANK YOU ma’am.

And last, I stamped the envelope with the medium peony stamp in chocolate ink.

Somebody spank me!!
Anyone? Anyone? Hello?
…or don’t. I’ll ask the hubs to.

Question to you gals, I know it’s not wedding protocol but is it really such a big deal if print the cards instead of writing them? I hate writing by hand! I mean do you think it’s that big of a deal to the guest? I haven’t followed everything by the book. I am not a protocol type of girl when it comes to certain things. After Mr. Ladybug and I got home from the wedding we threw out the top cake layer and said eff it. Who wants to eat cake a year old? We’ll just buy cupcakes or something. I can hear some of you gasping in horror. Hahaha… I can actually picture some of your faces and it’s making me laugh. Hahaha…

I don’t think it’s a big deal if you type them as long as you sign them.

Good job on the DIY thank you cards!!

oh & btw… a lot of people print their thank yous now-a-days… even there names…

i printed the thank yous & we signed our names… but even that was a lot of work… by the end of the pile of cards our signatures looked like crap :(

Mrs. Ladybug, you make me laugh.

To answer the writing question…my cousin did printed thanks (i.e. thanks for coming, glad to have you, our next task is this and that, etc.)then wrote a small note in the corner to thank me for my specific gift.

Mrs. Ladybug: Please share we you purchased those gorgeous stamps! They are adorable!!

My $0.02, I think you can print your thank you card…especially since you are putting the effort into making them.

cards look nice - a handwritten signature is all you need, i think.

i agree about the cake- we’re not gonna save the top layer, but instead serve it to guests - it’ll save us a whole $50 and we’ll probably still have leftovers…

For most guests printing should be fine, but if you have some older ones like great aunts/uncles/grandparents etc. a handwritten card might be better.

heee heee you’re hilarious Mrs. Ladybug. I don’t think it’s a big deal AT ALL if you print instead of hand write. Actually, I never even KNEW there was such a “protocol” until very recently. In fact I thought it should be the other way around, because printed just looks such much cleaner and nicer. I actually asked my fiance and friends about it and they said they wouldn’t even pay attention to whether they receive the invitations or cards printed or hand written. Yeah yeah.. i know some peeps must be DAMNING me right now haaa haa. And also with eating the cake a year later, again that’s something new I just learned. The first time I heard about it I thought it was soooo weird! I know it’s frozen, but frozen food can still go bad, especially when there’s so much cream & butter!
Oh… btw, your DIY card is BEAUTIFUL! Can you make mine for me? hee heee JK!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! so adorable.

i agree with everyone … so long as you personally sign it, i think you’re good to go. some people dont even get thank you cards out … so to get one is to show your appreciation. =)

i think as long as what you type is accurate, it’s okay. last year, my parents got a thank you card from a wedding they attended and it was printed with the words: “thank you for the lovely gift. it looks beautiful in our new home,” when in fact, they had given them cash! my parents were so offended and made my then fiance and i promise that we would handwrite ours. we did…it took FOREVER (we had 300+ guests) and if momma hadn’t said anything, i definitely would have printed them!
