Bridesmaid Dresses I

June 10th, 2006 @ 10:15 am by Mrs. Butterfly

After meeting with the florist, I decided to go with burnt oranges to yellows and everything in between.

Something in this color range:

She explained about having a whole range of colors so that there is depth. And she’s going to do amber lighting so that the venue provides a base color for the oranges.

So I decided to go with champagne colored bridesmaid dresses. This way, the neutral color will reflect some of the amber lighting and hopefully *crossing fingers* look beautiful.

Another thing about dresses is that I want my bridesmaids to be able to wear them again after the wedding. And I don’t want the dresses to be extremely expensive. Therefore, it made sense to look at stores like J.Crew, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, etc. Here’s what I found so far:

Anne Klein - Lace Bodice Silk Georgette Dress
Color: Champagne
Price: $180

Donna Ricco V-Neck Ruched-Waist Dress
Color: Champagne
Price: $138

I’m still looking for more dress options, so if anyone finds something (under $200), please let me know!!

What a gorgeous color scheme! That’s going to be beautiful. And I think the champagne bridesmaid dresses will be perfect.

I have to admit, I think the Anne Klein looks a little like a slip rather than a dress, but that could just be me. It looks like a very, very pretty slip, at any rate. ; ) Certainly the simple line would be flattering to a wide range of figures, which is a mark in its favor.

Whatever your pick of specific bridesmaid dresses, though, you’re making some darn good basic choices that bode well for a lovely wedding.

I can’t think of what color scheme I want at all. My wedding will be in September, so should I go Fall colors, or just do whatever I like…? Ugh decisions.

That’s sounds like a beautiful color combination. And even the lighting is going to be compatible. How nice!

Do you have your venue yet, Michele? If so, you might think about what colors would look good in it. Consider decor, lighting, and the colors you like as well as the season. It may be the perfect color scheme in your chosen venue will be apple green or rose pink, or it could be navy blue that looks best there.

Trust me, if the carpet and walls and upholstry are all in deep reds and browns, you’ll want to avoid using most shades of pink, but a deep forest green would look great, as would champagne or a really golden yellow. OTOH, if the place is an ode to pink and white, trying to fit in navy blue bridesmaids dresses or something in the ochre family will be disastrous.

Try http://www.cocomyles.com. They’re under $150, have plenty of options, and offer a champagne fabric. Good luck!

The colors of my venue are French blue and rich gold. My fiance and his groomsmen will be wearing kilts with colors of navy, hunter green and white stripes going throughout it. What colors would you recommend that would complement all this?
