Apres Apres Wedding Shoes

June 21st, 2006 @ 11:33 pm by Mrs. Caterpillar

I bought my wedding shoes the same day I ordered my dress. Alene told me to wait for my gown swatches to come in, so I would have a better sample to match when I dyed them. This would have been excellent advice had I ever thought about wearing satin shoes. But, really? I never thought about wearing satin shoes.

Now, I spend money on all sorts of useless things — $1,200 tent liner anyone? — but I just couldn’t see my way to spending money on shoes I would never wear again. Shoes that I guaranteed I would never ever wear again by dyeing them to match the ONE thing that I would only have occasion to wear once. So, I bought a pair of gold shoes.

I love me some gold shoes. They pretty much go with everything, and I think I’ll wear them forever. I saw these

at Thread last week and thought they were fantastic. Miss Ladybug threw out a link to the designer, BlueTux Shoes, a little while ago, but I failed the grasp the import of this until now.

These shoes are gorgeous, and nicely priced at $90.00. BlueTux also does traditional dyable satins, so there’s a little something for everyone.

PS: They have BLUE soles!

I didn’t know this until a reader commented, but cynthia rowley shoes have blue soles! almost as lovely as christian louboutin’s red soles. sigh.

I totally agree that you should be able to wear wedding shoes again–it’s definitely a factor as I look for shoes. It’s kind of funny, though, how we look for shoes and jewelry that can be worn again, but then don’t think twice about plunking down major dough for the perfect gloves or veil–things that almost certainly won’t get worn twice! Not that I’m complaining. :-D

Sad news, Miss Ant, Louboutin doesn’t do blue soled bridal shoes anymore! But you can always buy a pair of Louboutins and paint the soles — it’s all crafty-like!

And Angie, I think the shoes are pretty comfy. You can go try them on at various places around town. I think three or four places stock BlueTux shoes in NYC, including the Wedding Library. Go see, and tell us what you think!

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find ivory peep toes shoes with just the heel baby blue or a place where I can design my own shoe. I want my “something blue” to be different. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
