About Mrs. Bee

Dear Weddingbee,

June 22nd, 2006 @ 12:51 am by Mrs. Bee

I was wondering what are appropriate gifts for bridal showers? More specifically, how much should you spend?

Thank you,

Julie

Dear Julie,

By this time your friend has probably created a registry, so feel free to purchase anything off of it within your price range. If the bride doesn’t have a registry, common presents include small appliances or cooking utensils (wrapped together with a pretty ribbon would make a lovely present). Something thoughtful and homemade such as a cookie mix is also sure to be appreciated. One of my favorite (and relatively inexpensive) present ideas, is to purchase a scrapbook and have everyone fill out a page at the bridal shower so the bride can have it as a keepsake for years to come.

As far as how much to spend, it depends how close you are to the bride and what you feel comfortable spending. How much would I spend you ask? Probably around $50-$75 for a shower gift. But let’s ask our readers…

How much do you typically spend on shower gifts?

  • $26 - $50 (53%)
    $26 - $50 -> 53% (103 Votes)
  • $51 - $75 (24%)
    $51 - $75 -> 24% (46 Votes)
  • $0 - $25 (10%)
    $0 - $25 -> 10% (19 Votes)
  • $76 - $100 (8%)
    $76 - $100 -> 8% (15 Votes)
  • Over $100 (5%)
    Over $100 -> 5% (10 Votes)

Total Votes: 193
