Nightmares

June 22nd, 2006 @ 3:47 pm by Mrs. Butterfly

I’ve been having these weird dreams lately.

It always starts the same. I am getting ready for my wedding. I’m not ready at all, but the ceremony starts. I start panicking, and realize that they can’t hold off the ceremony just for me. I end up having to walk down the aisle in white sneakers, untied laces, an unzipped wedding dress, hair in rollers, no makeup, etc.

As I’m walking down the aisle, I can’t seem to walk straight no matter how hard I try. It’s almost as if I’m really really drunk and can’t balance myself. To make it worse, none of the guys are ready either! Their vests are unbuttoned, jackets are off, their ties loosely hanging around their necks… it’s seriously a nightmare.

I get through the ceremony somehow, and start crying about how that was the WORST wedding in the world. My bridesmaids (bless you girls) - even in my dream, they comfort me saying that no one noticed anything wrong, and that everything was beautiful.

Then I wake up a bit disoriented. And realize that the wedding is still 5 months away. (eek! only 5 months!!!)

I know I can’t be the only one having nightmares about the wedding. So I ask you readers, what kind of nightmares have you had? I am geniunely curious, because if you guys have had weird dreams too, then I might just be normal. So please - if you want to help me feel like a normal bride, share your craziness!! :)

I dreamt that it was the day of our wedding and I realized we forgot to send out the invitations! I was so upset (in my dream).

I had another dream that I didn’t have a dress to wear so I was going to stores to try and find any white dress I could.

I think I have a small fear that I will forget something.

I was having a real problem finding a dress for the wedding. So in one dream I had: my BM’s drag me to the church and tell me it was time for the wedding. I tell them I don’t have a dress. So they make one for me out of a black fish net material with a cow neck. Shameful….

I havent’ had a weird dream or anything but if you are having a wedding then maybe you are just scared that something is going to go wrong. Search for something that will make you feel better about how your wedding might turn out. Just don’t worry about it. Then most likely your wierd dreams will stop

hello there!
I’ve been having nightmares too.
I’ll share so we can feel normal.

In the dreams I’ve ran out of time to do my hair and forgot to order flowers and I have less than an hr to get it all done. In the dream my hair looks like a tangled, long, mess and I am running around a grocery store in my dress trying to gather some flowers for all the bouquets and decorations.

In another bad dream, we’re in the ceremony and my ring is wrong! It looks like a huge chunck of dimond is sloppily crazy glued to the setting and it looks awful.

The most recent, my ex boyfriend from highschool is asking to marry me. I feel this horrible dread and I’m at the alter with him in the middle of the wedding ceremony. Looking into the crowd I see my fiance. I stop everything and switch the guys around so I’m marrying the correct man.
During the dream I started crying I was so happy to be marrying the man I’m so inlove with. I woke up with misty, happy, eyes, smiling at my fiance. He smiled back. He had no idea what night I had!

I have had a few wedding nightmares similar to your’s, and I have just a little over 3 months to go. Worse than that I actually had a nightmare about our engagement! I picked my ring out more or less. Found something I liked for a super good price, told the boy that if he could afford it and wanted to get it awesome, and if not at least he knows what I like. Well, he bought it, and I knew it. I knew it was in the closet, on his shelf, in a little envelope. And shortly before he actually proposed I dreamt that he popped the question with a big, yellow gold, pearl ring in very bad shape. Very different from my small, white gold, 3 diamond ring. I relayed my dream to him, and a month or so later, after the real proposal he told me that after my dream he went and examined the ring in a panic to check for anything that might be wrong, ha.

I’ve had a couple of dreams. They’re mostly the same.
I am getting ready and I’m in my dress, with my hair half done, and I had to finish it and my makeup myself because the stylist didn’t show in time. My mom walks in and tells me as calm and matter-of-fact as can be “Sorry, your dad has to work, he won’t be able to make it to the wedding today”. Then she hands me my bouquet and its dead and is just dried dead flowers and twigs. Then my dress is dirty and I’m sitting there trying to get the stains out myself.
So I start walking down the aisle and the guys are wearing hideous outfits…shorts with dress shirts and looney tunes and disney character ties.

My fiance even had a dream recently that everything was going wrong and I’m just so furious and sobbing and he’s trying to calm me down, while all of my bridesmaids and family are behind me, telling him that its NOT fine! Everything is going wrong.

Our wedding is about 3 months away…scary!

I think it’s totally normal to have wedding nightmares. Especially since its something that we plan for SO long…

I haven’t had any nightmares but I’ve lost sleep of the color of my bridesmaids dresses. I’m so indecisive but I think i’ve finally settled with a color.

I think it’ll be a good thing for me NOT to get really involved in the whole wedding planning process. I’m a good candidate for a bridezilla.

I keep having dreams that I’m pregnant. My wedding is 4 months away and in the dream I look like there is a 5 year old in me as I walk down the aisle waiting to come out and throw the flower petals!!!

I have a dream about 3 nights a week. Some of them I remember really well, others I just remember bits and pieces. I’ve had my hair not done about 3 times, no makeup a couple of time. people throw my aisle decorations at me (and they aren’t even the type I’m using!), only 4 people come to the wedding, no cake, and the list goes on.

The best one was when I looked down after the ceremony and realized I was wearing a blue dress. But the Scott told me that it was ok, because it matched his tux! That’s when I noticed he was in blue too! And our wedding colors are reds and oranges, not blue!!

I’m ready to stop having wedding-mares!!

Mine is over a year away and I keep having nightmares that no one shows up. I haven’t even started actual planning yet. We’ve only booked the site. I’m afraid of all the nightmares to come.

I have a year until my wedding and I am already having “nightmares” most of them I see to either miss the ceremony or i don’t remember it. Last night i wasn’t ready yet and I felt rushed and put on bright blue eye shadow and then tried to wash it off.
My groom and I were announcent into the recpetion - we go running in and it has already started with out us.

what stress can do…
