Bentley Meeker Lighting

June 30th, 2006 @ 11:00 am by Mrs. Bee

Bentley Meeker is one of New York’s most talented and renown lighting designers. He’s done the weddings of Michael Douglas, Billy Joel, Salman Rushdie, Eddie Murphy, Rudy Giuliani, and more.

The one thing I wanted most for our wedding… was a lighting designer. But it simply wasn’t in our budget and you have to cut back somewhere. Lighting has such a dramatic effect on an event’s ambience - it can truly transform a venue. Looking back, maybe we should have had less flowers and more lighting. ;)

If money were no object, what would you splurge on for your wedding?

ah, Bentley Meeker– genius! my mom and i are very excited that he’s the exclusive lighting designer for our venue.

if money were no object, i think i would really splurge on fine china and silver for the table settings. although our venue has lovely silver, i would just adore having Christofle Malmaison and some very special plates/chargers to have the table really come together…

I work for a lighting company and I agree, lighting is a very tempting aspect to splurge on, simply because people usually don’t initially include lighting as part of their budget, but once they see it they’re pretty much hooked.

I would splurge on lighting and tent (draping silk fabrics). Yes this guy looks very very talented!

MORE FOOD!

Definitely the food, especially as I am struggling to find a new caterer within our budget restrictions this week. I am a sucker for all those pictures of mini-burgers, salads in martini glasses, shot glasses of soup, etc.

i think i would have gotten the photographer we really wanted.

i think lighting is so important! it seems like an unecessary expense but i totally changes the mood. unfortunately i don’t know anything about lighting and was completely clueless when i talked to my dj about it. how do you prevent your venue from having tacky lighting?
