Open Question: Bouquet Preservation

June 30th, 2006 @ 10:06 am by Mrs. Bee

Hi there!

I have a question that maybe other brides have also. Do you know of any good recommendations for “bouquet preservation”? Does anyone have any thoughts, pro’s or con’s on it?

Thank you! Love your site!!!

Dana

One of my friends put her bouquet in a box with a bunch of those silica packets. (The kind you find in some packaged foods or shoe boxes.) The silica sucks out the moisture but retains the color. I personally just took a few petals and pressed them and threw out the rest because they got bruised.

i should’ve given you the instructions too!
Pressed Bouquet

Traditionally, a bride selects a few flowers from her bouquet to press and put in the back of the wedding album. But there is no need for the blossoms to remain hidden away when they can easily be framed for display.

After the wedding, select the flowers that look their freshest, and press them for 1 to 2 weeks. Cut mat board to fit your picture frame, and lay it flat on a work surface. Arrange the blooms on the board, then carefully affix each with a bit of craft glue. Let dry, and place in frame.

I am having my bouquet turned into a custom artwork. I am in Louisiana so I dunno if it could be done from out of state but visit:
http://www.flowersintopaintings.com. I have my piece reserved. If you talk with Missy please tell her Lindsey Kees sent you! I think this is by far the neatest bouquet preservation I’ve seen. Good luck!

Here’s another option - petal pearls. They turn your flowers into beads and then create jewelry out of them.

when my cousin got married, she used the flowers in her bouquet to decorate a shadowbox containing some of her wedding pictures.
