The Webcast Wedding

June 30th, 2006 @ 3:38 pm by Mrs. Bee

Many wedding videography companies are now offering live webcasts so anyone in the world can be “at your wedding.” Live Internet Weddings charges $400 over the cost of their regular videography services to stream your wedding live on the internet. The webcast is also kept up on their site for 2 weeks for any guest who misses it. Cashman Pro, which serves the Las Vegas area, has been offering webcasting services for three years and even sends out “digital invitations” your guests. (source: nytimes)

Maybe you can’t afford a wedding, or don’t want to deal with everything that goes into planning one. With a webcast wedding, you can have all your friends and family “present” at your ceremony. Or perhaps you’re having a destination wedding where many guests can’t attend, or even an elderly relative who can’t travel. Having a webcasted wedding may just be the next big thing.

What do you think about wedding webcasts? Is it something you’d consider for your own wedding?

I’m having a DW and wish I could do a web-cast for all those (especially grandparents) who can’t make it.

Ha ha…but now that I think about it, my grandparents don’t own computers to actually watch it! Perhaps they could watch it at my aunt & uncle house :)

I think they are a great idea. One of my friends got married in Las Vegas a couple of years ago with only family present. When she got back home they had a party and we all watched the wedding webcast. It was so much fun to be able to watch their wedding!

Aloha! My name is Joshua Fair, and I”m the VP of Live Internet Weddings! We also provide edited DVDs of the special day…you can view samples at the website. Also, our webcasts use wired microphones and live videographers, as opposed to Las Vegas which uses mounted cameras on the wall. Call us at 888 859 5455 if you would like more info. Aloha everyone!
