Open Question: Cupcake Stands

July 6th, 2006 @ 1:11 pm by Mrs. Bee

Hi Weddingbee!

Have you guys seen any cute ideas on how to display cupcakes? Or where to buy cupcake stands?

Pauline =)

~~~
Hi Pauline! Recently reader Shelley sent us a link to Leda’s Bake Shop after seeing it on the Daily Olive. This cupcake stand was different from things we’ve seen in the past, plus Leda’s cupcakes are adorable!
Another great idea from Leda - having a small cake at the top of the cupcake tree so you have a cake to cut, and something to save for your first anniversary!
For basic cupcake stands, check out The Cupcake Tree. Ebay is also a good bet. You can even use these individual cupcake holders to give cupcakes as favors. But these Belgian chocolate pots are some of the most scrumptious looking alternatives to the traditional wedding cake I’ve ever seen. :)
Have you seen any creative cupcake or dessert arrangements?
I haven’t seen it yet, but we’re planning on making our wedding “cake” of Greek wedding cookies–they’re crescent-shaped and we’re going to arrange them around a cupcake stand or three-tiered tray with the curved sides facing outwards. From a distance it’ll hopefully look like a big white confection but as you get closer you’ll realize the “cake” is actually a bunch of stacked cookies!
Sur la Table has 2 wire stands that might be pretty -
Something like these tiered plates might work too -
My brother had cupcakes and small cake at his wedding that were tiered like the 2nd picture. The added fresh flowers to the little cake on top, and then put flowers throughout the cupcakes. For our wedding, instead of a groom’s cake, we’re having mini cheesecakes, brownies, and cookies. My florist has different sized glass boxes that we’re setting them out on.
I think the key to displaying small desserts it to create differents heights - that way it doesn’t look like you just threw them on a table.
Would this be more ($) than a regular wedding cake? This is so cute I want it for my wedding now!!
Tha, you’d probably save a lot of money by doing cupcakes instead of a cake depending on where you purchase them of course. But cupcakes can run as little as $1-$2 each and it’d be hard to find a cake for that cheap.
We are using this for our wedding cupcakes, and I trimmed it in ribbon using double sided tape.
You can find the white ruffled cake plates at Target:
And if you go to sugarcraft.com and do a search for “bride and groom pick” and scroll through the results, they have mini cake toppers that can be cute.
kitty, trimming it in ribbon means to tape ribbon around each layer of the stand. (most likely pia is using a cupcake stand with round layers.)
Love this one!:
But do you guys think it would be big enough to hold ~150 or ~200 cookies, if they (the cookies) were artfully stacked? Any suggestions?
