About Mrs. Spider

Rooms Reserved

July 12th, 2006 @ 2:36 pm by Mrs. Spider

We are putting our wedding party up at the Sheraton in Flushing the night before the wedding. I knew I wanted to do this from the giddy up because I WILL be that Bride who flips shit if ppl are late or get lost or oversleep because they go out and get smashed the night before our wedding. Now when I lay my jelly bean head down to sleep, I will know where each and every person in the wedding party is. Hmm, I better arrange 5am wake up calls for all rooms. Note to self: google bullhorns.

A while back I called the Sheraton to block off rooms and get a group discount. The rates they gave me were ok but not great, so my BM Angie called them and got them to go down another like 30% on the price. For the right price, I might rent my little Angie out haha.

Here’s the deal we got:

Rooms Reserved : wedding new york Sheraton sheraton.jpg

Rooms Reserved : wedding new york Sheraton2 sheraton2.jpg

Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel
135-20 39th Avenue · Flushing, New York 11354 · United States
Phone: (718) 460-6666

$159 Double or King Room
Rooms Reserved : wedding new york Sheraton3 sheraton3.jpg

$279 Suite
Rooms Reserved : wedding new york Sheraton4 sheraton4.jpg

Rooms Reserved : wedding new york Sheraton5 sheraton5.jpg

I blocked 10 rooms and if all the rooms are picked up, Mr. Spider and I get to stay in a suite on our wedding night for FREE. That is my favorite word F-R-E-E.

How many rooms are you usually supposed to block off?

i think 10 is the minimum? beyond that, you can block as many as they will allow. some ppl block entire floors.

I blocked off 5 rooms the day before, 20 rooms for the night of the wedding because we do have a more-than-usual number of OOT guests (includ. my parents, sister’s family, etc). Since it’s out on LI (not in NYC), I didn’t have to secure them w/ a credit card either.

Are those prices before or after the discount? Because damn… for how nice the rooms look, they’re pretty cheap!

I don’t want to put a damper on things but I worked a short 3 month stint there. Quit as fast as I could when I made what I needed years ago. They’re not the nicest of ppl, they really over charge you and the rooms/materials are cheap and flimsy. They Actually jacked up the price during 9/11! I don’t recommend them at all. Sorry.

Our wedding will be on Long Island also and since we have some OOT guests I figured Queens would be a good compromise between Manhattan and Long Island.

My cousin had her wedding at this Sheraton in May and she stayed in a suite her wedding night. Everything was beautiful.

Oh and these prices reflect the discount.
