Pimp My Ride

July 17th, 2006 @ 11:47 am by Mrs. Butterfly

On my wedding day, I will be taking pictures with the bridal party in the West Village area. Since my venue is on 5th Avenue, near Washington Square Park, I wanted to capture the park as well as some of the nicer quaint streets of the West Village. My only problem? Transportation.

Since it is my wedding day, I wanted to rent a nice limo. But how do I fit in the bride, groom, 3 groomsmen, 2 ushers, 3 bridesmaids, 1 attendee, 2 photographers and 2 videographers into one car?

Well, I’ve come up with 2 options. Option 1 is to have a nice sedan or a very small limo for me and Mr. Butterfly, and then stick everyone else in a van.

Option 2 is to get one of these….

I’m seriously leaning towards Option 2. :)

Another option: Some limo companies offer limo buses that can seat up to 16 people. It’s a sportier looking van (usually black) that looks just like a limo on the inside with a bar and everything. And much cheaper than a hummer or SUV limo.

in front of St. Bart’s church on Saturday i saw quite a nice looking van/shuttle/bus that had a limo-esque front. Mr. Daisy was impressed enough to comment that we ought to get one of those for our wedding, so… not sure where to find it, so i’m a big help!

most companies make you book them for a minimum amount of hours. how long are you planning on taking pics? ps - i know some lovely west village streets for photos. =)

Oh please don’t rent a Hummer! They’re just so bad for the environment. You can get some really nice looking larger cars or vans for less money and less destruction.

Splitting up the sexes is also an option. That way you can get a little more face time with your girlies.

I was thinking of getting two smaller limos and having a few extra moments of face time with my bridal party since I’d probably barely talk to them once the wedding actually began.

I would pick the Escalade over the Hummer. To me, Hummers are a bit obnoxious, def bad for the environment and scream out ‘new money.’ Another alternative is to have your wedding party to pull up in a line of yellow cabs. It has a nice, low rent, hipster, quintessentially NYC feel about it.

ooh escalade~!! the yellow cab sounds like a very cute idea but not sure how you want to deal with obnoxious cabbies on your wedding day. remember i was one in my past life.. hahaha

Sorta random - I’m a Howard Stern fan and he got into a week-long tirade about how his limo driver bought a huge Escalade limo. Howard’s girlfriend and his mom found it almost impossible to get out of the limo in their skirts and dresses because you need to take a huge step out from the car to the curb. They had to basically lay down on the seat and then just slide out, feet first. That could be a huge problem for not only you, but for anyone else wearing a dress. You don’t wanna be all sweaty right before the pictures!

Why not just get two regular limos (lincoln town cars)?
