It’s funny, I always looked forward to the day I’d have a ring on and could legitimately buy wedding magazines. And now I find most of them really quite lame. The editorial content is staid and boring (look, another article on what to do if your parents are divorced), the spreads uninspiring. They’re always pushing ridiculously overpriced stuff ($10 for each invitation, that’s reasonable). Internet sites like this one and theknot have MUCH better ideas, a fresh and original take on things, and are in touch with the reality. Viva weddingbee!

i may be biased milka, but i definitely agree! i got way more from blogs and messageboards than from magazines while i was planning my wedding. and while i skim over a lot of things in mags (i never read the advice columns for instance), i do like the pictoral layouts for ideas and inspiration.

honestly wedding magazines are more interesting now than when i was actually planning my wedding because i see them with different eyes now that i’m looking for things for the site. i notice everything now whereas before i’d just skim thru once or twice.

You guys are right. All the ideas I like have come from fellow knotties, not one from any of the trillion magazines I’ve bought!

i agree! the ideas in wedding magazines always seem recycled. the ideas on weddingbee and some other blogs are much more creative and original. keep up the good work! :)

In reality thats how it is with all magazines. Same old articles over and over, sex tips, makeup secrets, weight loss blah blah. When I interned for a magazine, it really set that in for me. Now when I look at magazine covers I laugh.

i don’t even own a single wedding magazine and i don’t plan on buying one in the future either. why spend money when you can get so much great information and helpful tips on the whole wedding planning/process via the internet?? and i noticed that when you have a magazine, you don’t really “research” the articles thoroughly but rather, skim over it is a magazine after all so it’s hard to read everything from cover to end. but with the internet, you have an endless amount of resources right at your fingertips, and you can skip, skim, pick and choose, whatever you want whenever you want. that’s why i love weddingbee and so many other great wedding sites! but hurry up and make one for LA damn it!
