Personalized Groomsmen Gifts

July 21st, 2006 @ 2:09 pm by Mrs. Butterfly

I got this email from Mr. Butterfly just now. He did all of the research and came up with the ideas all on his own!!! *tear*

Hi —

I was thinking about groomsmen gifts and I thought maybe we try something a little more creative? First, each groomsmen would get one of those silver plated business card case holders with their full name on it, like below:

This is $20.95 which includes the cost of engraving.

Then, when they open up the case, they each find a set of personalized business cards with their role in the wedding. The design of each business card would reflect what they do or their personality. So for example,

(Matt is in accounting.)

card2.jpg
(John likes cars.)

We could even play with the title…like Chief Executive Groomsman, or Senior Vice President of Ushering

100 cards costs $5.95 to print. So total groomsman gift would be under $30.

What do you think?

I’m so touched, I think I might cry.

I think it’s very original, and low-cost, which is fantastic. I love the idea of personalizing each one for the person, what they do/like, and their role in the wedding!

Maybe the groomsmen…[if single]..can pass them out to the single women guests?

omg, totally adorable idea. i hope the groomsmen are single!

Very creative! Props to the Mr!

That is a great “personal” gift idea… only if I could get re-married and go thru another wedding planning. You got yourself a good husband-to-be~

I think they are adorable…but are they really useful? I’m just trying to see things from the GM standpoint…I know my FI gets lots of weird GM gifts, and it’s like, “gee, thanks.”

Do you really think the guys would hand them out? If so…then maybe this is the right gift for them.

They are very cute & original, BUT I am totally turned off by things that have wedding titles printed on them… (i.e. Bridesmaid/Groomsmen). They aren’t going to want to be reminded the rest of their life about your wedding day. Maybe just put their name (with out the wedding posiion title)

The cards are cute (again without their wedding title) b/c that’s a great thing to hand out to girls (at your wedding or at a bar). If they are single…not such a great idea if they are dating or married. Do you see your friends wearing the “Bridesmaid” t-shirts after your wedding day?

JMHO…

cute, but is there a way to order less than 100? maybe print and cut 5 per GM yourself?

i think its a really cute idea. Though i agree it might not really be useful after the wedding. perhaps just the business card holder with their name, but not groomsman. and instead of ordering 100 cards, perhaps just printing some out as a DIY project for laughs…(like 20 or so….) then they could use it after the wedding for their more “professional cards”

very cute indeed.. but maybe not even the entire name? i think monograms are better.

cute, but i have to agree with some of the other readers… i know my hubbs wouldn’t like those as guest gifts…

how about this: http://www.thinkneves.com/tie_watch.php

you can probably match the bridesmaids dresses too!!!

Miss Butterfly says:

perhaps i should clarify - the card case wont have “groomsmen” on it. only their names….and after the wedding, they are free to use the business card case - since people could always use a business card holder. the cards with our wedding stuff on it, that’s just to be cute.

I think it’s a very cute original idea! Just their names or monograms sound good. They can hand out their cards to any of the wedding guests, not just single women guests. I think people will definitely get a kick out of it.

last wedding i went too, i talked to a couple people who lived near where i was moving. one of them had a business card and gave it to me, which was so much better than writing the info down on a napkin… so, it doesn’t have to be for picking up girls. but maybe if you leave the wedding title off, they’ll be more useful. you could make up joke titles (professional racecar driver or some other thing).

I love it! I think it is so awesome that Mr. Butterfly is into the wedding planning stuff. No matter how much I nagged hubby, he never thought about the groomsmen’s gifts. He thought they were cheesy and anyways his groomsmen didn’t have to do anything beside show up at the wedding. Yup…hubby was so busy before the wedding that he hasn’t had his bachelor party yet! So in the end we took them and their S.O. out to a nice dinner.

That is sooooo cute! I have to show my fiance

I agree with the others. I think the business cards would be something that even, I, as a bride would look at and go “gee thanks–what I am supposed to do with these?” The card case is lovely, but perhaps you could find something more useful to go along with it. :) Hope this helps :)

Your hubby is so cute!!! That is such a GREAT idea!

you could also tuck a giftcard into the card case, and each giftcard could be chosen especially for each groomsman: itunes for the audiophile, home depot for the handyman, etc.
