So, the NY Bar is tomorrow (!) and Wednesday. For the past 20 days, instead of posting or planning or interacting with humans in any way, I have been studying and panicking and crying occasionally — just like a crazy person. Mr. Caterpillar took on the burden of finishing all the little projects I started back in April — the ones that didn’t need attention until last month, and now have to have to have to be finished right now right now! Like invitations. We cut it a little close, but amazingly, they’re done, they’re beautiful, and most importantly, they’re here.
Yes, it’s a rock poster. Yes, it’s gigantic.
You see, back in the day, Mr. Caterpillar used to be a rock star. He is . . . not so into cute things. I figured a poster would be the only invitation he would actually be on board with. And he totally was. (As well, our wedding will feature about three bands, so it’s not as weird as it seems at first.)
My good friend, Jesse Olanday, created the posters for me. He actually designed the whole thing, created the fonts, hand-silk screened the posters, then signed and numbered each one. He also created a little ‘zine with all the extra information — maps, event information, and other things. And, oddly enough, the day he was pulling the invites, Art Forum UK came by and took a bunch of pictures of him in the process of making them. Those are so incredibly awesome! My fiance would have loved to have those as invitations, as he is in a band. It is definitely the most original invitation idea I have seen.
