Open Question: Bridal Shower Games

July 24th, 2006 @ 2:07 pm by Mrs. Bee

Hi Mrs. Bee~ I have been an avid reader of your site for a few months now, and I love it!!! I am currently planning a bridal shower. I wanted to get some ideas on creative Bridal Shower games because I haven’t been to many showers. Any creative ideas will be a great help~ Thank you!!

~~~
I wrote a post awhile back on bridal showers and bachelorette parties. You can find links there to a ton of bridal shower games with printable worksheets. Hope this helps!
You love ‘em, you hate ‘em. Readers, what are some of your favorite bridal shower games?
Gift bingo…gives the guests something to do while the bride-to-be opens her gifts.
fill a bowl with rice and throw in some closed safety pins, put on a blindfold and see how many you can pull out in a minute. We played this at my shower and it is A LOT harder than you think, I only got 2!
my friends and i did a shower where we had a madlib about the bride and groom. the moh wrote out the story of how they met, started dating, and got engaged. then she removed a bunch of key words and made it into a madlib. it was hysterical… she kept all of the completed stories and stuck them in a scrapbook.
One cute one at a friend’s shower was that a ball of yarn and pair of scissors were passed around. Each of us were told to cut off however much we wanted–4″ or 25′, whatever. After we all had our pieces of yarn cut, we were told that we were to name one fact about either the bride or the groom for each time we could wrap the yarn completely around our fingers. No one could repeat facts. It was so much fun to watch the people with huge amounts of yarn wrack their brains trying to come up with random facts!
One thing I would DEFINITELY forego is the so-called “drawing” that’s really just a scheme to get each guest to adress her own thank-you note envelope. So tacky.
Make a long list of questions (both easy and hard) for the groom to answer about himself and/or their relationship (first date, first kiss, etc.) before the shower or party. Bride then has to answer them during the shower. When she gets an answer wrong, she must stick a piece of chewing gum in her mouth (really funny if big and sour). By the end of the game, she’ll more than likely not be able to talk with all the gum and saliva (gross, I know, but funny) in her mouth.
My aunts had a really fun game at my shower. Every guest was asked to bring their pjs in a brown paper bag. My aunts made a list of every guest’s name with a line by it. As each guest arrived they put a number on the outside of the bag. So when the time came, my aunt would say we have bag #1 and pull out the pjs - the guests were to guess who’s they were by writing the number by a name. It was hilarious! We had one guest put nothing in their bag!!!!
It was a big hit!
Another game is getting to know the bride and groom. My MOH did this game. She asked me to come up with 15-20 questions and answers. She than filled in 3 more fake answers to each question (multiple choice). It’s amazing how many people actually don’t know and shocked by who knows the most!
OH! OH! An addition to the above post: I went to a shower where instead of pajamas it was your sexiest pair of underwear. Really funny when the bride’s mom had the most risque pair.
