Wedding Stress

July 25th, 2006 @ 11:11 am by Mrs. Spider

I’m so sorry that I’ve taken an unexpected hiatus from wedding blogging. I have been so overwhelmed with planning that I constantly feel like I am on the verge of a breakdown. Of course people have offered their help, but it’s like being trapped in the bottom of a dark well and hearing voices from above but not having the strength or any sense of orientation to accept help.

Last night as we were taking our 100000th stab at assembling all the invitations, we realized correcting an off measurement would set us back another couple of days. And while I sat there trying to fight the urge to build the world’s biggest bonfire with every piece of wedding related material I have, Mr. Spider found a typo in the direction card. The only thing that kept me from having a full on anxiety attack was imagining myself at the bottom of a dark damp well and not being able to hear anything or anyone.

I will bounce back, that much I know. I keep trying to remind myself that blogging helps. Charting the little triumphs and accomplishments helps and the support of readers helps. I will bounce back my kit kats. Just gotta climb out of this crazy well.

aw. don’t worry… it will all be worth it in the end and your wedding will be a beautiful one. is the typo very noticeable? maybe if it is a little one, you can just leave it as is?

it happens to all of us - don’t worry miss spider… you will persevere!

it’s funny all the ads I see on the right are for anxiety treatments. =)

i’ll post a little something to brighten your day in a bit…

The other option, of course, is to have somebody throw down some bath salts, an eye pillow, and maybe run a long straw attached to a bucket of cosmopolitans down there. When you’re sufficiently soaked, come back up and take on the world again :)

stay strong, Miss Spider. i completely emphasize with your “burn it all” thoughts. i have been, of late, threatening to call off the large wedding and elope. but, even little Baby Jessica made it out of her well–and she had way less skills than you!

there’s a light at the end of the… well?

I can’t even begin to imagine the stress you’re going through.

I had an almost panic attack last night and it wasn’t even for a wedding. I am the MOH for my friend’s wedding and am planning her bridal shower. About two weeks ago, I ordered her shower favors and last week they arrived…but they weren’t what I ordered — all 30 of them! I contacted the store and they sent out a replacement shipment almost immediately. Yesterday, I received the replacement favors and was happy to see that they were the right ones…until I counted my order and realized they sent the wrong count. I’m short almost half! There’s still about 3wks til her shower but I still panicked. Ewww, I don’t know how I’m going to handle my own wedding. *hugs*

Miss Spider, OMMMMM. Take a big deep breath!! Don’t let the details bog you down (I am saying this to myself as well)…..the typo, isn’t that big of a typo? If not, don’t worry about it. Everyone will get there to celebrate you and Mr Spider’s special day!

I just want to say I totally understand how you feel. When my caterer cancelled everyone kept telling me that it would all work out. What no one seemed to realize or acknowledge was that I was the person who had to work it out. The problem wasn’t just going to magically solve itself. I keep swinging between being completely detail oriented and wanting every little thing just right to avoiding anything and everything wedding related, usually to my detriment because I have barely over 2 months till the big day. You are definitely not alone.

If it makes you feel any better, I sent out my invitations a month later than I planned to. On top of that, I realized the address on my RSVP envelopes were missing the apt number AFTER I sent out the invites. Luckily, most guests got my follow-up email asking them to correct the address before sending back the RSVP’s. I felt like I needed a mini-vacation from wedding plans.

even if it is a big typo, F IT!!! honestly, my invitations which i loved and were exquisite just did not end up perfect. printers messed up and there was no way i was going to sit there and wait for them to do 500 more! but at the end of the day, the thing that keeps my sanity isknowing that the wedding is not about the little details that we perfectionists stress over, but it’s about marrying the person you’re goign to be with the rest of your life!!! it’s cliche, but because its true! two weeks from now, no one is giong to remember what your invitation said, let alone a typo. it’s the sad truth and to stress about something so completely idiotic and beyond our control takes away from the whole point of having a wedding. JUST EFF IT ALL, I SAY. though as the weddng day approaches, vegas is starting to look better and better and better ………
