Invitation Proofs

July 27th, 2006 @ 3:48 pm by Mrs. Butterfly

They’re here!!!!!

I am overly excited about these proofs, and maybe I’m biased (of course I am biased), but I think these look fantastic!

Invitation Proofs : wedding new york Proof1 proof1.jpg

I added in “Together with their families” for a purely aesthetic reason. My first proof didn’t have anything before my name and it looked a bit….empty. So I filled it.

Invitation Proofs : wedding new york Proof3 proof3.jpg

Invitation Proofs : wedding new york Proof4 proof4.jpg

This is the seal that will go on the outside of the pocketfold. I know usually people put the recipient’s names here, but I’m done being a DIY bride, so the seal will have our names and the date on it. This way, no one can get confused about the date, especially if they don’t read English very well.

Invitation Proofs : wedding new york Proof5 proof5.jpg

Finally, the RSVP cards. I know Miss Daisy wrote about this yesterday and I wanted to put in my two cents about RSVP cards.

Yes, some people do assume that they can bring children.
Yes, some people do assume that they can bring dates.
Yes, some people do assume that they can bring anyone who is not on the actual invitation.

So what am I doing about it?

You see where it says “_____ of _____ will attend”? I am going to fill in the second ____ with the actual number of people that are invited to the wedding.

Do you think it’s a bit…..rude? But I think it’s ruder to bring uninvited guests to a wedding, when wedding costs are sky high.

These are so lovely! And I completely agree with what you and Miss Daisy are doing as far as RSVP’ing is concerned; I am re-working my RSVPs to do this same thing.

Great invite! I like the cultural part of it. Add a nice touch. I don’t think it’s rude at all to fill out the 2nd ___. That’s what I’m going to do too, especially after reading yesterday’s post.

That’s exactly what I’m doing on the reply cards! I don’t think it seems rude; I think it just makes it clearer. I’m still afraid people will cross out the number I write in and fill in their own. Do I worry too much or what?? :-P

Katie — I don’t think you worry too much, and I don’t think you are wrong. i am willing to bet people WILL do that, figuring YOU made the mistake, and will be wanting to “help” you out with the actual number.

hahahah. mrs. rose is right. i’ve heard of people crossing out the numbers and putting down the actual number of people they intend to bring. i’m more afraid that someone will ignore the number, not write it in, and just bring whomever they want to.

Miss Butterfly, you’re having your rehearsal dinner at KumGangSun?? I’d like to know if you have a set menu or just ordering from menu? In lieu of rehearsal dinner, my family and his are going out to dinner (total of 13 os us) to celebrate my big 3-0 few days before the wedding. Pls respond either on Bee or via email. Thanks!!

They’re lovely, but… umm, pleasedon’tkillme, it should either read “A block of rooms has been reserved” or “Rooms have been reserved” (I’ll just go back to editing that which people pay me to correct now…)

I’m getting married next month (August) and like you had my invitations customed made. I think you should change the format of the rsvp to read: We have reserved ( ) or ___ seats in your honour. ___ decline with regret
___ accepts with pleasure
Then fill in your count. Since it’s a proof and has not gone out to print, try it that way and do a side by side comparison. I think you’d like it. Good Luck and Congrats on the start of your new journey in life!

^^ I like how you worded that Teandra. I don’t think it’s rude, although like some others said…people may cross out the number you put and put in their own. Unfortunately, the people who do that have no common sense or manners in my opinion. Anyways, I’m going to do the same thing that Teandra had written on her response cards.

a wedding we attended earlier this year did the same thing with their rsvp’s and i actually thought it was a rather clever way to make clear how many people were invited. i didn’t think it was rude at all.

I really like Teandra’s idea. I was just thinking about what would happen if I just had

M________

{ }Regretfully Declines

{ }Accepts with Pleasure

I’m so glad I saw that!

Oooh I like that idea, Teandra!

My only question then is, what to do if, say, you invite a couple but only one of the couple can attend? How do they indicate that they’ll be coming solo (i.e. we’d have an extra seat)?
