yeh-eun is still looking for an affordable NYC florist that offers free delivery, Jasmine is looking for a place that can turn a piece of her dress into a tie for her FH, vi is looking for a seamstress who can create a wedding gown, h is looking for a kickass trainer, and yukirei is looking for sparkling wine recommendations.

To add your question to the beehive, leave a comment below and we’ll update this post to include your question above.

Mrs. Ladybug says:

Jasmine: I would just take it to your local seamstress or tailor. I would also bring in a tie so that they can replicate the shape and seam of the tie.

yeh-eun,

Try floradesignny.com. The website is awful, but I have heard good things about her in terms of price and quality. Delivery is only $100 I think. You should probably check out her store and then decide.

The only problem I have heard about her is that she sometimes is oblivious to your special perference and insists on what she believes is good for your bouquet. So if you just want one or two kinds of flowers for your bouquet or if you like her suggestions, which are often good, then you are in GREAT shape.

Does anyone have suggestions for an affordable designer or seamstress who can make my wedding gown? i’ve seen dresses and like certain things, but would want to change things…especially the price for some dresses.

PS - i LOVE weddingbee. definitely the most helpful resource out there.

How do we post to the beehive? I’m looking for a kickass trainer in NYC. I want to do some serious body shaping. I’ve done my 2 hours of cardio a day/5 days a week for 2 months to burn off fat, and i’ve plateaued. i think its about time i got some professional help but i dont trust any trainer with a sales pitch..

I’m looking for affordable sparkling wine recs. Our wedding is lunch/ early afternoon so we’re not having wine or hard liquor. So far I have Prosecco…anything else?

I posted a comment on here before about Tony at http://www.dreambodies.net. I have been a client of his for over 3.5 months now and have never been so happy with how I look.
I was a size 12 when I started with him and am now very comfortably fitting into a size 8 pant and a size 4 or 6 suit jacket.
Check out his website. He is available for phone consultations and online or in-person training.
Genuine guy who can and will ensure that you make your goals!
Good Luck!

Hi Yukirei -
A white sparkling wine that’s generally very good is some type of moscato d’asti. It’s slightly sweeter. If you want to know what it’s similar to, try the Martini and Rossi label. You can get it at most markets, and it runs about $10/bottle.
A red that’s also great is a lambrusco. IT’s not q uite as bubbly, but it has just a slight effervescence to it that’s wonderful, and it goes with light lunch type meals. Not too dry, but not too sweet either. I’ve found very good lambruscos at the $5-10 mark. (If you go to my xanga page, there’s a review of the lambrusco that I tried recently.

I say go for the italian imports. They’re generally great and give you a lot of bang for the buck. there are a lot of places on line if you do a search that will ship you in bulk if you let them know ahead of time. good luck!

Question: Where can I find some good wedding fonts? I’ve tried downloading some free fonts from multiple websites and they suck big time when I try to use them. am i doing something wrong?

i’d be willing to purchase the fonts, but i don’t know if there’s a package out there that I should just buy with a bunch of fonts included.

thanks!

Hi gals (and guys)

I have a question for the Beehive too.

After reading Miss Grasshopper’s post on Why We Pick Our BMs, I want to get your opinions on something that has been on my mind for a while. My wedding is going to be very small (about 50-75 peeps @ most). Is having 4 BMs too many for such a small wedding? The reason is because I already have 3 gals (two Matrons of Honor and one BM.) I really want to make my new SIL a BM too since we’re pretty close. But I’m worried 4 looks too weird for the size of the event. What do you all think? Thanks in advance.

Anyone know where i can find inexpensive ceremony music? Preferably a three piece string orchestra? The place i’m having the ceremony doesn’t even have a piano! I was thinking of students. Anyone have any references or experiences?

12.
yeh-eun says:

glass - i’m actually a juilliard student and have done weddings before. the best way to do it is find a college/university and ask for musicians for a string trio. you can always rent a piano too… the place i’m getting married doesn’t have a piano either but we’re renting one…

if you don’t mind you should check out high schoolers. they usually have a quartet within their orchestras (i know i did) and they have a lot of experiences in weddings. they would probably be a lot cheaper than college music majors. let me know if that helps.

Britty says:

Hi everyone, I have been reading this site for awhile now. My boyfriend and I have been talking a lot about getting engaged and married. He wants to purpose to me on our 3 year anniversary, this halloween. Which brings me to my question; how soon is too soon to get married? The date we had in mind was May 19, 2007. Thanks in advance for all the help!

14.
a says:

Britty — I don’t think there’s any set time. If you want a May 17,07 wedding, and he asks on 10/31/06, you have a full 6 mos, and depending on how flexible you are with parts of planning (lots of places might be booked before 6 mos in advance) you can certainly get it all done. Though, some people wait a year and a half — so that same May weekend in 08, if you wanted a lot of cushion time for planning. Or — tell him that you’re more into the thought of being with him forever than a perfectly scheduled proposal, and try to move the asking up. Heck, ask him ;)

Lou says:

My fiance proposed on April 7 and we’re getting married on September 30. It can be done! But, I’m not in NYC. That said, if you both accept that he’ll be proposing in October, what’s to stop you from starting the planning now?

Miss Grasshopper says:

Glass, you could try Michael at michael.m.lee@us.hsbc.com

or Cicely at Wedding Belles Duo:
cicely1002477@yahoo.com

They both quoted me decent prices for string musicians.

Rachel says:

I agree with Lou. You might not be able to plan exact details, but you can start looking at dresses and picking styles, maybe come up with some ideas for a theme, (mine’s going to be realtree camo) or think about places to have it.
