Honeymoon - Part II

July 31st, 2006 @ 1:19 pm by Mrs. Spider

After countless hours of agonizing research, we choose The Palms in Turks and Caicos.

I was very pleased with the hotel’s own honeymoon package and American Airlines flight prices, but I posted an open call for better quotes on LIWeddings.com and got a few strange replies with prices that were higher or straight per-night prices without any package extras.

I have never used a travel agent before; frankly, I feel like if a deal exists, I’ll find it on the Internet somewhere. But my interactions with one particular agent, whom I found on pc1004rn’s blog, made me realize why travel agents still exist in this age of totally self-sufficient internet users: SERVICE.

I went to her with a price tag and asked her to beat it. When she came back only matching it, I had to decide whether I wanted to go at this on my own or take her up on her professional support. In the end, her prompt, informative and well researched emails made it pretty easy for me to decide to book through her. If anything, for the same price, I figured I am getting someone willing and able to do the dirty work for me haha.

Agents are useful…they make your life easier and they really don’t cost you anything if you did your research (like you did). If it takes one more worry off your plate, I say it’s worth it!
