Perfect Pair

Thanks to Mrs. Bee’s post about free samples, I received and fell in love with the Perfect Pair salt and pepper shakers:

Unfortunately, My Wedding Favor’s prices are not fantastic:

1 - 11 Price: $3.29
12 - 23 Price: $3.09
24 - 47 Price: $2.92
48 + Price: $2.75

Blue Ribbon Design beats their prices with a stick:

1 + Price: $ 2.85
12 + Price: $ 2.35
24 + Price: $ 2.18
48 + Price: $ 1.98

This website also offer FREE personalized tags:

Browsing their website, to my delight, I also found:

apple-of-my-eye.jpg

for the whopping low price of:

1 + Price: $ 1.24
25 + Price: $ 1.14
49 + Price: $ 1.08
96 + Price: $ 0.98

The salt and pepper shakers are far more practical but I HEART APPLES~!!!!! what to do, what to do?

Definately, apples!

One note on the receiving end…we were given the Perfect Pair shakers at my fiance’s cousin’s wedding a while ago, and while I thought they were completely adorable, they have not proved practical for us. The problem for me is that practical gifts usually only end up being used if they are not the kind of item you only need one of. For example, we already had salt and pepper shakers (as most people do) so it would have taken a lot more effort for us to switch over to the new ones when we were perfectly happy with our existing ones. (Um, not a LOT of effort, but most people are lazy right??) Other practical favors we have received (like a pasta claw) we actually use, because you just stick it in the utensils bucket and use it when you need it, instead of having to actively replace something you were already happy with. Just my personal experience….

The candles may be less “practical” but they’re totally cute! And if you love apples, I say go for it! Since I doubt too many of your guests will really uuuuuse the shakers no matter how cute they think they are….

Miss Spider,
i think the apples will be soooo cute. aren’t your centerpieces featuring apples? if so, then it will be thematically adorable. (the pears are great too, but Laura makes a fair point).

thanks also for the favor site link!!

I’ve had a few problems receiving my shower favors from Blue Rainbow but the staff was friendly, courteous, and very timely.

Miss Spider says:

goood point Laura, that’s my biggest fear, that our favors will just sit somewhere. my mom thinks the pears are the cutest things though so i was gonna get them cuz she loves them. BUT my heart does a little dance of joy for those darling apples~!! haha

thanks for the feedback~!

Mrs. Rose says:

I would go with the apples as well

I ordered the free sample of the pears too, but I found the quality to be quite lacking (uneven finish, knicks) in the set I received. Therefore, I would be concerned about consistency of quality for a larger order. Don’t know if that bothers you, but I can’t be giving out favors that look like this, no matter the cost. =(

FYI says:

Miss Spider,
are you following any of the asian cultural traditions. I had originally loved the concept of the perfect pair however when I told the parents they objected with a passion for the fact that in chinese, when u say pear, it can also mean separate… So they believe even before your married your giving the idea of separating…its like jinxing urself… just an FYI

Amber says:

I just want to ask Laura, where the hell did people get pasta fork favors? Awesome!!

14.
Miss Spider says:

ooh this is good stuff- FYI i’m chinese too but i didn’t know that pear/pair means separate? which word?

jaycee - my samples were pretty flawless. i liked that it had some weight to them. that boosted their quality to me. i also ordered the peas in a pod and my parents thought those were too knick-knacky. but now you got me doubting them.

FYI says:

In cantonese, pear is lay… so think when you say lay h-oy (sorry my chinglish is really bad) lay-h-oy would mean separate, but you can also say lay fun- which would mean divorce…

thats how it was explained to me …

sorry … didnt mean to put a damper on things …

I ordered samples of the Perfect Pair salt and pepper shakers, Two peas in a pod, and Forever Photo Frosted Coaster from Blue Rainbow Design as I was undecided what to go with for my cousin’s shower and wedding. We loooooved all of them and ended up buying 50 salt and pepper shakers for the shower and 350 Forever Photo Frosted Coasters for the wedding. Before having made the final purchase, I did quite a lot of research on the favors and liked Blue Rainbow Design best because they offer the lowest price and their service was excellent. If you are not sure whether to go with the shakers or the apple, go with the Forever Photo Frosted Coasters!! They are very pretty and practical.

I like the candles; I would never use the salt and pepper shakers, as I have probably three sets already!

If you want to stay with the pear theme, why not do these pear candles?
