Giveaway Contest Entry #16

August 1st, 2006 @ 9:36 am by Mrs. Bee

Howdy gals-

Here is my entry for the DIY contest. They’re my invitations and I totally love them! The pics of course do not convey their fabulousness so I’ll try to explain.

Each pocketfold had a custom name tag that was made from a capiz shell. I wrote the name of the guest in script on the shell, added a silver leaf charm with jewelry wire and then a dangly charm of some sort. No two were alike. They were held together with a jewelry binding so that they could be used as a pendant. Some of my guests are using them as a keychain.

The envelopes were really drawstring pouches made from antique silk saris from India. They can be used as makeup bags or jewelry pouches, etc. I used clear cellophane envelopes to mail the packet.

The stamps were custom designed with our names, wedding date and a picture of our ceremony location in Central Park.

The “calligraphy” was printed on my computer on crushed silk paper and adhered to the sari with glue dots so that they are easily removed. I cut around each address using scalloped edge scissors to fancy them up a bit more. The “handwriting” is so authentic looking I’ve had about 1/2 of our guests ask us who did them. In our case it’s Mr. Hewlett Packard.

I am blushing about sending this to you guys because I am such a dork.

Thanks and enjoy!
Kim

Golly ladies I sure am tickled by all of your responses.

Here are the answers to your questions:

The font is called “Dear Sarah Alt One” which I downloaded for free at a DIY Bride website. Sorry, don’t remember the url but if there is overwhelming demand for it I will try to track it down!

Nope, we aren’t Indian but we love the culture and the colors, patterns were perfect for “theme”

Yes, they took a R E A L L Y long time to make. I don’t know for sure but over a week several hours at a time…(not to mention tracking down all the materials which also took loads of time!)

Thanks again all and happy planning!

Where did you purchase the paper (cardstock) for your invitations?????????

12.
Kim says:

I purchased the invitation & RSVP cards from noteworthynotes.com. The company that makes this design is called Boatman Geller. The pocketfolds are from Paper Presentation (love that place!)
I purchased the cards that I printed the maps on from Papersource.com.

I googled the font, but the only site selling it is charging $149! eesh! That’s more than I am willing to pay if it’s available for free! If it’s not too much trouble, can you share the link? Thanks so much!
