Reader Request: Which Dress

August 1st, 2006 @ 11:02 am by Mrs. Bee

Weddingbee reader yeh-eun is trying to decide between two dresses and asked us for our help.

Dress #1

Dress #2

But with a lilac sash like below (that’s actually a shrug so she could see the color). And that’s the actual bridesmaid dress the bridesmaids will be wearing.

Which dress do you like better?

Adrienne

I like#1 it is more elegant and I think it fits her better than #2, and makes her waist look smaller and I love the way it drapes and falls.

When I was trying on wedding dresses, the shop would not let me take any pictures unless I was going to purchase the dress. Has anyone else experienced that? Maybe I just got suckered into making a quick decision…

Most boutiques will not let you take pictures of dresses… until you buy it. =(

wow talk about close! i like #1 as well - the cut of the dress fits you beautifully.

maybe it’s just the picture, but the first dress makes you look a little taller and thinner. the second dress is nice, but the sash kinds cuts you off, again making you look less tall. also, i’m not a big fan of the bow in the back. but that’s just my preference! you look beautiful in both dresses! good luck! :)

I like #1 - it fits and flatters. #2 is too matchy-matchy for my taste and the sash isn’t as flattering.

I like both. Like everyone said, #1 is quite elegant. But I like #2’s “extra details” (the sash) that make its a little more fun. I think it depends on the style of your wedding. If it’s a more formal, elegant affair, I’d go w/#1. If it’s a more upbeat, fun, colorful kind of event, I’d go w/#2. Good luck! :-)

Dress #2 is my dress!! Except I’m not tying the bow in the back. And my sash is sage green. I love it on you though!! You look great!!

#1 does make your waist look teenie tiny though.

i like the first one. its so pretty on you! i am not a big fan of the sash. like another person has said…it is a bit too matchy matchy. might be overkill. but that is definitely a personal preference.

Go with #1! It has such a beautiful, soft drape. It looks lovely on you.

number 1!

It makes you look taller and slimmer. The sash on the second dress makes you look very short waisted and wider. I am very short and am having to decide against having a sash as I am short and curvy and it doesn’t do me any favours whatsoever.

You look stunning in the first dress.

i am going to agree with a whole bunch of other voters when i say that i think the first dress is so flattering! you have a smokin’ body so show it off girl! but i do love the color of the sashes. i would go with number one for sure though!

I think I’m a little late finding this website, but I have to say number one. It fits better and not only looks classic (but can go either way — elegant or more casual) but definately flatters your entire figure from head to toe.

While the second dress is gorgeous and may tie in the bridesmaids dresses more, it looks a little heavy/frumpy and hides just how teeny and nicely figured you are.

Plus with the tea-length bridesmaids gowns, the drape effect and shorter-trained # 1 keeps the same more dainty appeal, even if it doesn’t have a matching sash.

I think #1 looks simply elegant on you! It is gorgeous and timely. I am not sure how the sash dress will “age” in your pictures!
