I just love DIY bouquets, it really gives me hope that I will be able to do it myself!

Could I somehow get info on how Michele made the shadowbox? This is something that I would love to be able to do for myself!

Angie,
The shadowbox was really easy. I bought the shadbox itself at Micheals, it was about $18 I think? Then I just used doublesided scrapbooking tape to attach the lightweight items, and straight pins to attach the fabric pieces. It only took about 2 hours.

Amber,
As long as you practice before the wedding (so you know what tools you need and the right technique) and have a couple of people (I had my mom, my sister, a bm and my MIL) helping you, doing your own flowers is actually pretty simple. It was fun and a good pre-wedding bonding experience.

it was a toss up for me between the shadowbox and bouquets because i would try making a shadowbox, but i doubt i’d be brave enough to try making my own bouquets. you did a wonderful job on them tho!

MicheleLouise, do the flowers get a little gross in the box? I love when red roses dry, but from my experience (hanging all flowers from the fiance in the closet, upside down), they get kinda gross. I’d think, though, that they really age well in a glass box. Is it sealed?

Also, I plan on going to the L.A. Flower Mart to get some great ideas, but I think I’ll wait until November, so I can start with flowers that are in season in my wedding month! I plan on only needing Three boutenierres, two corsages, two bouquets (me and MOH), and no flowers for the centerpieces. Thanks for the help!

I haven’t opened the box up since I made it but I don’t smell anything weird coming from it. =) There are some floral preservation sprays out there that you could try. Which I might try myself at some point before the more humid bay area winter sets in.

The bouts and the corsages are the hardest part. =)

Michelelouise,
where did you find a shadow box deep enough to hold your bouquet? I can’t find one to fit mine in :-(
