Mix It Up

August 7th, 2006 @ 7:26 pm by Mrs. Grasshopper

My friend Melissa was telling me about a shower she went to this weekend, where the guest favors were dry cookie mix in a glass jar with a tag indicating the baking directions (add an egg, oil and vanilla and bake!), and a funky wooden spoon. I have seen these before, but had never considered them for a bridal shower favor. I think it sounds like a great do-it-yourself favor for someone hosting a bridal event. Check out the directions for a mix here. Seems pretty easy and delicious.

I LOVE this idea. Been toying with it as a wedding favor — but it’d be SO much work for a big wedding. Might use it as part of my bridesmaids favors, though, now that I think of it. Hm…

i’ve always loved this idea. an excellent idea for bridal shower gifts and favors - if brides are brave enough to embark upon such a mission. :)

Our Special Day

Our very Martha Stewart friend gives this away for Christmas every year. Fun and economical gift that everyone loves!

i’ve always loved those jars but have never made/bought them. anyone out there ever open the jar and actually make the cookies? i don’t want my work to just sit on a shelf or in a pantry.

And you could find out which kind of cookie/muffin each girl likes the best, and personalize it that way! :)

i think i’m going to use this as an activity at a shower im hosting…I will probably put out 2-3 of the bride’s fave recipes and ppl can choose one and make their own jars…but is it tacky if I have the other bridesmaids put shower tags and the wooden spoon(i may look for a mini wisk) on during other activities?

Oh, the mini-wisk is too cute. I think I’m sold on this — and it will likely be the gift for my shower hostesses. yay!

I got one of these for Christmas and the cookies totally tasted yummies! :) It was heartbreaking use though because the jar was so pretty!
