Weddingbee News

August 8th, 2006 @ 2:09 pm by Mrs. Bee

I want to apologize to the people who read weddingbee through email subscriptions, because you only got 20 posts in your daily digest this morning when you should have received 26 posts - you didn’t receive the first 6 posts that went live yesterday.

The reason for that was awhile back, we set our maximum email post settings to 20/day because we didn’t think that we’d be posting more than 20 times a day. Lo and behold we’ve now exceeded 20 times a day - the insanity! So this morning I changed the setting to 50. Do you think you could handle more than 50 posts a day? shocked2.gif

~~~
Recently we asked for reader feedback on how we could improve weddingbee, and tossed around the idea of truncated posts so more could fit on each page. Some of you were for it, some were against it. One of you suggested having each day be a separate page - so when you click on a specific page, it’ll have all the posts from one day on it. We’re going to try that out this evening and see how it works out.
Several of you also commented on how annoying it is when you vote on a poll, and the page automatically scrolls up to the top. I hear ya - it annoys me too. We’re looking into a fix for that (I hope there is one!).
And as far as launching in more cities and building additional features, we’re working hard behind the scenes. Stay tuned… and thanks for all your invaluable feedback. happy2.gif
What about doing something similar to the “Weekly Roundup” posts you guys do? Especially as the number of posts per day begins to grow, it’s going to take a lot of time for one page to load, and putting all the posts from a given day on one page is going to become troublesome, I think.
Instead, posting the title/author/short description for every post on the “home page”, and providing links to the articles themselves, might be something to think about.
Oops sorry, I meant providing links to the POSTS themselves. :)
I’m with Tea…I’m not in the official planning process yet, but the ideas here are invaluable. This site is probably my most read site out of the day…I’ve gotten so many GREAT ideas for my wedding.
I am a new weddingbee addict. I am planning on making a trip to NYC to check out some of the shops mentioned in the postings. If you plan to expand weddingbee to other cities, please do an L.A./ SoCal weddingbee. I’m getting married summer 2007 in Santa Barbara and could use some info on local shops and sample sales.
Thank you, Mrs Bee!
i love this site. even though i’m not a ny bride, it’s so fun to read for inspirational ideas. if you start more for other cities, add CHICAGO to the list! it’s one of the biggest metros in the midwest so why not :)
