A Shoe-in For Lunacy

August 9th, 2006 @ 2:15 pm by Mrs. Ant

Am I CRAZY for splurging on these Louboutin’s??!!

Untitled-2.jpg

They’re 2 1/2 inch heels (exactly what I want), super cute and elegant, and 40% off.

I am a very low maintenance girl when it comes to shoes, so these are a huge splurge for me. By low maintenance, I mean reaaally low maintenance. I stock up on sandals in Shanghai and Taiwan where they’re US$15 a pop. The most expensive shoes I own are probably my tennis sneakers, snowboarding boots, and jazz dance shoes.

Oh, and I hate painful, high-heeled shoes. With a passion.

Once when I was a freshman during college, I bought a nice pair of heels for a date and walked across the Harvard bridge in them. I couldn’t even make it all the way in those shoes. So I threw the damn torture devices away, walked barefoot the rest of the way to Sketchers, and bought myself a pair of rollerskates. Yes, I showed up for my date in rollerskates. ;)

So I’m surprised that I even fell for these shoes! I adore how it is perfect in every way and exactly what I wanted. But I have to admit that it’s the red soles that made my heart skip a beat. THIS IS SO UNLIKE ME! What’s going on here?

Have I gone crazy?

~~~
[Addendum #1]
… I’ve concluded that.. YES, I have gone absolutely crazy!
I just remembered that I also need to buy a pair of gold or red sandals for my Qi-pao, which I’ll be changing into for the reception. So it’d be ridiculous for me to splurge on a pair of white shoes that I’ll only be wearing for 3 or 4 hours. I guess that means I’ll be returning these lovelies… *sigh*
~~~

[Addendum #2]

… On the other hand, when else would I ever be able to splurge on designer shoes if not for my own wedding?!

Can you tell that I am SO TORN? I swear there are conflicting voices whispering in my head… “Holy crap! Those shoes are so hot! And it’s your wedding! They’re worth it if you love them.” VS “Be good, don’t succumb to temptation, and return these. Just think of the children starving in Africa. That money could buy them a school and several hundred malaria vaccine shots.”

you’re not crazy. i would say buy them but with one caution … how is the ground at the rock house? i basically ruined my jimmy choos while taking photos at the south street seaport and on dusty paths at battery park. if you’re going to be taking photos on rocky or muddy paths, you might want to get a cheaper pair.

Mrs Firefly, you make an excellent point. The rockhouse grounds are, well, rocky.

OMG, I love those shoes! Do NOT return them — for Louboutin’s, it’s actually a decent deal (I love Bluefly).

Be sure to have your photographer take lots of pictures of them — especially of the signature red soles! :)

or you could have them dyed red! it would look sooo cute peeking out from under your dress, AND you could wear it with your Qi Pao (if its red).

Buy them. Those are my fantasy bridal shoes. I’ve been searching for those exact shoes to no avail. If you see them anywhere in a 7, announce it b/c I’d even pay full price for those.

I just bought a pair of gold Christian Louboutins from ebay, so I am crazier than you. And I don’t feel guilty either-even though I will have to buy a pair to take pictures in when we go to Central Park or I will fall and break my neck (would that make a good picture?)

Seriously, they’re beautiful and they will make you happy.

I’d wear them… and then dye them some punky color later! Like Turquoise!

They’re adorable! And don’t feel bad about buying them…I have a big addiction to shoe shopping, but I love it! ;) I can never have too many shoes.
