Daily Page of Posts

August 9th, 2006 @ 9:39 am by Mrs. Bee

Last night we implemented the option to have one page for each day’s posts. As you can see there are 3 posts on this page for today so far. If you click back to the previous page, it’ll have all of yesterday’s posts on it.

The reason why we didn’t use this option initially is because the posts that go live towards the end of the day fall off the page when a day new begins, and I wanted to give each post a fair amount of time (24 hours) on the home page. I was also concerned with people missing posts that went live later in the day, because they didn’t click over to the previous day’s page.

What do you think? Do you like this format better where each page is one day’s worth of posts? Or would you prefer to keep it the way we had it?

I am not a fan of the posts being divded by days. I would prefer either a controlled number, or the previous format.

I like catching up with posts that I have missed on busy days, one after another, rather than reading by the day. The flow is too choppy when sorted by date, i think

It’s nice that you request feedback from the readers so often.

i like it this way! =) i check weddingbee ALL the time, so i always read the last post of the day on teh day it’s actually posted. but, if i were to miss a couple days, i know that i’d rather just click back two pages. it’s easy and convenient. i honestly can’t understand thinking the flow is choppy- most times consecutive entries are by two different people, and there isn’t a difference as to which entries are on which pages, as long as they’re in chronological order.

i like it the old way. i’d rather see the most recent number of posts in the front page than just that day’s posts.

the only thing i don’t like about the old way is that if the day’s posts are more than the set number of posts for the first page. maybe create a list of today’s post or add the calendar where you can click on each day to see the posts for that day.

aylee, if you mouse over the tab at the top of the page that says “blog” it shows you the titles of all the posts on the homepage, and how many comments each has. this makes it easy to jump to the post you’re looking for or to check if any post you’re following has new comments.

although i am inclined to say i like the old way (just out of habit and being used to it)…i actually really like this divided up date format because ….i think…when i go on vacation and then come back…i will be able to go to the exact days of the posts i missed, rather than hunt of it… does that make sense? would i be able to do that with the old way? i guess that would be the main reason i like this new way.

thanks mrs bee… i noticed that. but it only shows you the posts in the homepage, doesn’t it? but what if today’s post exceeds the set number of posts displayed in the homepage? i’m actually referring to the old format coz i like the old format better.

i like the old format plus today’s post listed somewhere.

it’s not really a big deal to me since i check all the posts until i get to the posts that i’ve already read :)

It doesn’t really matter to me either way. I just keep reading backwards until I end up at a post I already read. On Mondays I usually ahve to read through a couple pages because I don’t go near the computer on weekends (at least I try not to).

I like the old way too. I leave work before the last posts are posted, so I just read from the top every morning when I come in.

i like the new way, but i’d settle for some sort of divider to mark the line between days. however, i don’t like the fact that the archives and the specific blogger posts are also divided up day by day. i was looking for something in miss ant’s post from a couple weeks ago and it was irritating to have to browse through pages w/ one post each.

i think we can find a fix for having a designated amount of search results for one page rather than having only the results for one day. that bothered me too because i use search all the time!

so far sounds like most of the people don’t like this new format. i prefer the old one too myself. :)

Either way, it’s alright with me…since I always just find the post that I ended with from the previous day, and read up until I’m caught up…but it looks like you already reverted back?
