I have a question for the beehive! Does anyone know of any sites to find a good list of questions to ask vendors when interviewing them for your wedding? I want to make sure I get the right information when I’m talking to them!

A book was published recently called The Wedding Bible which I hilariously won in an internet competition. Its only positives, though, were the beautiful pictures and the vendor questions she provided. I’m afraid I don’t have the book to hand, but perhaps a look in your bookshop may afford some help?
It’s on amazon here:

i have this great book that i got that included so many questions to ask vendors:

bridal bargains
by denise & alan fields

go to a border or barnes and read through it. i liked it so much i actually bought it.

some questions from the book:
how many hours does the rental fee cover, what is over time charges?

is there a in-house caterer or a list of approved caterers?

are there any cooking restrictions?

is there a piano available? (this is more for me hehe)

what else is happening at the site the day of my wedding? (the last thing you need is music from someone else’s party heard at yours)

hope the book helps!

Mrs. Bee,

I want to make my own invitations, but I don’t know what kind of glue I should use on the cardstocks. I did some research, some suggest double-sided types and some suggest adhesive runner. What is your opinion?

THanks.

In England we have new glue sticks called pocket mice which are kinda like strips of tacky adhesive that you roll on with a ‘mouse’ shaped applicator. They’re great cos the adhesive is very tacky but not wet and you can direct exactly where you need it to go. I think when you say ‘adhesive runner’ that is what I mean. double sided’s are faffy and i can never seem to find the strips that need removing without gluing the thing to itself.

i LOVE herma dotto or herma vario! they are super-thin so they don’t add bulk; the applicators fit neatly in your hand so you don’t get fatigued; they don’t jam; you can turn the little wheelie for precise application; they are acid-free archival.

with michael’s 50% off coupons, they are supercheap. or you can ebay the applicator, and then buy the refills.

I have a question! Is it rude not to have hors d’ourves during the cocktail hour and not have an open bar, especially if we are on a budget?

i have a question regarding paper and printing for invites…a friend is designing all printed materials for our wedding, and in order to finish my budget I need to price out the cost of paper (for invites, Save the Dates, Programs, etc) and need to know where to look… what are the best sites/stores you guys know of?

hey newcomer,

I helped a friend of mine work on a gluing project the other day and she lives and dies by LIQUID CEMENT. Good luck with your invites!

The best adhesive for invitations is found at Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, etc. It is the 3M Scotch Tape Roller. It is like a tape cartridge that fits in your hand. The best part is when you first apply it and make a mistake, you can lift it without damaging the paper (to an extent, don’t get crazy). Then you can rub the tape/glue with your finger and it rolls right off! Once you place it and like the position it will become stronger over time, even permanent! OMG, it is like glue from heaven!

Does anyone know how to dress up an Asian restaurant for an elegant wedding reception? I am somewhat on a budget. Thank you!
