About Mrs. Bee

We changed the post viewing settings back to the way they were - manually controlling the # of posts per page rather than having one page for each day’s posts. It was also messing with the search function, where you’d get one day’s worth of search results instead of a whole page of results from many different days, causing you click back page after page.

Thanks for all your feedback! The consensus seemed to be - the old way is better anyway! :P

We’d also been debating back and forth about truncated posts - that’s why we tried the one page for each day’s posts option in the first place. Then earlier today Nellie suggested that we truncate the longer, image intensive posts. Being quite inept when it comes to the technical aspects of a website, I didn’t know that it could be done. But it can so that’s what we’re trying out now!

Check out the bottom of both Mrs. Firefly posts, both brotherbee posts, and the Miss Daisy post below, which have all been truncated. If you click on “read more,” it’ll take you to the rest of the post on the comments page. If you click on “read more right here,” it’ll expand the entire post on the same page you’re on.

Yay to Mr. Bee and my brother-in-law who are constantly improving the site, and without whom I’d be totally lost! Please play around with the new features and let us know what you think! I’ve truncated this post too so click below to test…

Testing…

Testing…

1,2,3!

I like too - but I did think of something! Because your posts are generally short, this way works well. Have you thought about truncating the long photo posts? I love them, but they are the ones that are usually time consuming to scroll past, and if you just truncated them, it would be a nice teaser.

nellie, truncated posts are going to be our next experiment. unfortunately it’s all or nothing so all posts will be truncated. but we’ll see how it works out! =)

I like … but can you first post the long post in the entirety and then when it moves down one or two posts, truncate it … sorry, i know i’m just creating work!;-)

i love having the longer posts truncated!!! so much easier to scroll. i’ll admit i’m biased, because if (haha, i should say WHEN) i check weddingbee at work, our firewall blocks most photos, so i have to scroll through pages of blocked photos in order to read the text based posts. HOWEVER, don’t worry, i always come back and check out all the pics in all their un-blocked glory once i get home. sorry for the superlong comment. maybe you should truncate it too? hahaha, i crack myself up. *blushing*

i like the truncated posts too, especially with the pictures. it makes scrolling though to catch up on comments to other posts a lot faster

I don’t really like the truncated posts. I DO love your blog and the reason why I like it so much is because it’s heart to heart and down to earth. I feel like truncated posts make it seem a bit… mainstream? as if I’m reading a washingtonpost or newsweek website.

the reason why we’re experimenting is it’s great now when we have around 20 posts a day… but what if we have double that? Would you still want complete entries to show?

and i’m generally not a fan of truncated posts myself, but i feel like we will need them at some point.

I guess I’m in the minority when I say that, but I don’t really like the truncated posts. I like being able to read everything on one page without having to click and go to another page.

i dont like it either… it really annoys me to keep having to click on it. even if you have like 40 posts a day, i would still love just a scroll.

i don’t like the truncated posts! it would get annoying after awhile to click click click. i like it just the way it is.
