Second First Fitting

August 11th, 2006 @ 2:46 pm by Mrs. Spider

Last night I went to my second First Fitting. I tried the dress on last week, but the seamstress wasn’t there and I was so distracted by finding my second gown, I didn’t even have my dress on for that long. This time the seamstress was there, I was not distracted by anything and I remembered to bring some chicken cutlets.

For those unfamiliar, chicken cutlets are silicone boobie inserts you slip into your bra to push your babies up front and center. A while back, Mr. Spider’s mom bought a pair but didn’t have the balls to wear them so she gave them to me. I’ve never used them, no seriously, I swear~!

Last week Wendy told me to bring some in. She says every bride uses them because it fills out the top a little better. With them in she said, I might not have to make any alterations to the bust at all. Awesome. So I dug these chick-a-dees out from my closet, dusted them off and brought them with me to the fitting.

When my mom saw them she exclaimed “Those are gonna give you a mean rash!” Oh mom, rash schmash, look at my BOOBS. HOO HA~! Just as Wendy had said the top filled out perfectly and just a teensy bit has to be taken in. The teensy bit we are taking in is just for added security- to prevent any urges to have to keep pulling up my strapless dress.

I also considered getting a Nu Bra which are silicone inserts that adhere to your breasts and clip in the front for cleavage.

This nifty thing was all the rage a few years ago and my friends went out and bought them like crack rocks. With these sticky cutlets on, you can wear just about any top without worrying about bra straps or seams. The con? Eventually the stickiness wears out resulting in sudden panic attacks and frantic cupping of the boobs when they start to disengage themselves. Sweat (think dancing in a club) generally worsens the situation.

The Nu Bra costs $60 so I might just use the ones I have now. If I give them back to Stinky’s mom after my wedding, can I count them as my “something borrowed” or is that just totally gross haha. I’m thinking totally gross.

Oh my goodness, Miss Spider…
I will lend you something myself if it means preventing you from using the boobs for that category!

My stepsister wore one of the silicone bras at our parent’s wedding. When the flash went off, you could see the silicone reflecting through the lace and her chest was glowing. :)

(Miss poppy) I know!! Filling out the top of my dress is typically NOT a problem, finding a strapless that holds everything up can be.

I’m looking forward to finding a super awesome corset that works under my dress. Ah, support.

i wear my featherlite nubra quite regularly, but i’m sure i only paid around $25 for it. i’d want something with more support for my wedding day and you’re right - it’s not that effective if you’re sweating!

maybe you should look into getting “cutlets” sewn into the dress. that’s often done and i think a little extra on top (not too much tho) looks great in a wedding dress.

I bought the Nubra after reading the posts about it on weddingbee. It took a lil time to “play around” with them to get the “right look” but i love them. Like kanipark said…taking them off is a lil struggle but it gave me the assurance that there was no chance of them falling off.
